In Bulgaria, boroughs outside city centres lack public space. But with small interventions, empty lots can become thriving social hubs. Adding seating and basic amenities can open them up for people, while a collective design process fosters community.

We propose to scale up this placemaking process by streamlining it and putting it on wheels. We will equip a truck and travel across the country to seed public space. Let’s get the engines running so any neighbourhood can enjoy greenery and play.

What would a library look and feel like if it was created together with your neighbors? The library could be a place where you engage in meaningful activities with your community. Through the process of creating the library, you can participate in the circular economy, heal the surrounding natural environment and learn sustainability in practice. Everyone is encouraged to join the library, which is constantly evolving and coordinated by your neighbors. Expert guidance and funding are provided.

Urban transportation needs are changing as density increases and traditional vehicles subsequently become obsolete, which is pushing for more compact solutions like the Unicorn Scooter. The unit will deliver a range of 80km thanks to the integrated battery pack that can be easily removed and charged via the magnetic charging system. Unicorn can also be used for carrying cargo or a second rider to make it a multifunctional solution for urban consumers to integrate into their lifestyle.

Gleis 21 is in the heart of the new quarter in Vienna: The Sonnwendviertel forms a bridge between the tenth district and the inner-city area. Visible from afar, the wooden facade already signals a contrast to the familiar urban look. The wood hybrid construction is a technical innovation with a role model. Created through participation, the residents own, operate and manage the co-housing-project collectively themselves with a great external impact.

fuse is a community-driven and context-specific, interdisciplinary artistic project focusing on the Biċċerija and its surroundings (Valletta, Malta). Its scope was to discover the communities of the area and uncover their stories, facilitate interactions and ultimately develop a project which has art, community and context at its core. fuse is based on elementary principles related to inclusion, safeguarding of living heritage, creative placemaking and sustainability.

The extension of the Magnolia complex is designed as part of an ongoing urban development of Stora Sköndal in Stockholm. It will serve both as a restaurant and as a meeting place next to the new local square. Created by using wood as the main material it generates harmony. It ties the large open space together and contributes to a warm and welcoming atmosphere

A circular initiative of urban renaturalisation involving artists, scientists, architects, designers, residents of Tres Barrios-Amate and youngs from the local association A.E.S. Candelaria. An exploration of the resources and species of the neighbourhood, to imagine new relationships of sustainable prosperity through an integral process that takes the form of a vertical garden, a perfume that distils plants from the neighbourhood and a sound composition that celebrates new alliances. 

EXPÉ[Le Mans] is jointly organised by West Creative Industries (WCI) in partnership with two institutions of higher education: Le Mans University and Ecole supérieure d'art et de design TALM-Le Mans. This interdisciplinary challenge engages students in designing and prototyping innovative solutions for the region and its future needs. It resulted in the creation of a heritage sound trail promoting the historic city centre of Le Mans.

In this project, Smart Twin brings together a municipality and its inhabitants to work on our global sustainability challenge! Using intelligent, interactive 3D models of homes, Smart Twin helps us on our way to a more sustainable, inclusive and beautiful world. Based on these smart, digital images of their own house homeowners receive advice on the possibilities and potential for their home are assisted to live a more sustainable life.
