Re-Design It Green is a free research hub for students, researchers, and professionals of architecture, interior design, fashion, and industrial design. The main objective of the hub is to provide the necessary literature and equipment for developing innovative sustainable materials to be used in the corresponding fields. It is an organization that aims to fund and encourage the implementation of ideas for new materials with a low carbon footprint while creating an employment area for the region

Concular is the digital platform for resource-efficient construction enabling the reuse of construction materials. Therefore build-in material is digitized using specific material passports and then redistributed to construction sites by a matching algorithm. That way, the passports can meet the material demand of upcoming construction projects before any demolition happens. We certificate, move and examine materials. The impact is measured by calculating the CO2 and waste saved in the process.

The project’s aim is to identify new circular and sustainable retrofit strategies, and to apply them to restore a complex of seven social housing buildings, dating back to the 70s and located in the outskirts of Tortona, in the North West of Italy. The core idea is to adopt circularity and sharing of resources to pursue environmental and social sustainability and to improve the architectural quality of social housing buildings.

Renaturalization of a “non-place” in a fringe area between a river, and urban to rural landscape. The aim is to create a landscape that promotes local biodiversity, water resilience and follows the principles of circularity of resources and respects the local materials and techniques. The process designs a constructed wetland that includes an infrastructure capable of treating waste water by a natural efficient and phytosanitary method, and a social and ludic park with a natural swimming pool.

Madrid Río is a truly exceptional project. Undoubtedly, it is the most important project executed in Madrid over the last few decades and probably one of the most ambitious projects carried out in Europe in recent times. It is only comparable to the Big Dig, completed in Boston, USA. This is perhaps the first european project that truly integrates large infrastructure and the built urban fabric with the natural environment that surround them. 

Born for the drying of tabacco and synthesis of a landscape intended for work, the ancient factory called ‘Il Castello’ is recovered for new uses, opening up to the Community as a court of collective knowledge, theater of public-private synergies aimed at regenerating the land over which it dominates. Respect for environmental values has led the intervention to develop almost exclusively inside the building, reconfigured in order to restore its semantic identity in the contemporary dimension.

Mycelium, a biodegradable material is implemented to achieve regenerative structures with no carbon footprints. By rethinking the role of built environment, spontaneously developing structures achieve monumentality through their unpredictability. These ´living buildings´ go through a continuous change of decay and evolution.

Aware of the value of the rural heritage and its development potential, the project has identified development as a strategic factor for "re-knowing" and re-functionalizing it in a sustainable way. The agricultural archaeology, the landscapes, the ancient paths and the Appian Way become the guidelines of the new economies of the territory, guaranteeing inclusiveness, community participation and innovation of processes and products for an experiential and cultural tourism.

Save the Children Pavilion for EXPO 2015 was conceived to be fully adaptable to further uses after the international exhibition. Starting from its layout, organized in a flexible constellation of small pavilions, the building is devised to be dismountable and rebuildable, reusing up to 90% of the components, including the structure, the roof, the panels and windows, and all the screws. After EXPO 2015, the pavilion has been readapted as a school in the Al-Marj Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon.

Borgo Mazzini Smart Cohousing is an innovative restoration of historical heritage in the city centre of Treviso, Italy, where a former complex of buildings have been renovated and adapted for agile and independent living of older citizens thanks to a participative project design phase and the installation of ICT devices that help guarantee their health ageing. The residents now are able to live and share spaces and activities while integrated in the wider community.
