Biblioteca del Grano di Milano explores wheat as a universal symbol to ignite discussions on food, energy, climate, global exchanges, economy, and social justice. It establishes a hybrid and expansive cultural space, developed from the ground up and integrated into an ecosystem of interconnected spaces, reimagining an urban fringe as a model for the city of the future, transforming this land as a learning landscape, a Valley of Bread’s Vitality.

We transformed an old tenment flat (10 appartments) with rebuilding the balconys to loggias and the roof to two lofts from 760 to 1100 m². 7 Families get good libing in 90m² each, share cars, garden, workshop, goods as cooking or sporting tools - and friendship. Heatpumps deliver warmth, cooling and warm water with 19 kWh/m² and year or 60,- € per Month and dwelling. "You can take the child out of the hause but you can´t take the hause out of the child" - it´s also a peace project

A former boiler house in Valmiera—an industrial city in far northern Latvia—Kurtuve was acquired by the municipality with the vision of creating a dynamic art space. Through a collaborative effort involving architects, artists, and local residents, the venue has been transformed while preserving its raw industrial aesthetic and integrating modern, flexible features. Kurtuve now fosters resilience, and cultural access beyond Riga, redefining the region’s cultural landscape.

The post-industrial, shrinking town of Eisenerz is experiencing a rural exodus, which affects women in particular. This project gathered local practices of care, reproduction and maintenance, which are often overlooked amid heroic narratives of ore mining. Working with locals, mostly women, many of them retirees and among them a group with dis_abilities, the project collated diverse spatial practices of local care to articulate their role in future scenarios for the crisis-torn town.

Breathing new life into neglected spaces beneath the railway viaduct, transforming them into vibrant places for the local affordable economy. Over 10 years, this initiative united non-profits, residents, and local and state authorities to support emerging creatives and small businesses. In 2024, the Pilot Arch opened for public use, with more to come. A seamless blend of heritage preservation and sustainable practices, this project highlights the power of grassroots-driven urban transformation.

In 2015 research reports showed that all educational buildings in the Eemsdelta region in Groningen were exposed to safety risks, due to the earthquakes as a result of natural gas extraction. The new Eemsdelta Campus offers space to 3 secondary schools, a practical study program and a sports cluster. It is an integral learning landscape, meeting educational needs and ensuring natural interaction with the environment. Moreover, the campus is energy-supplying, circular and earthquake-resistant.
