SMOTIES enhanced the livability of public spaces in ten rural European villages by fostering local cultural initiatives that strengthen social cohesion through participation. Often, the absence of gathering spaces limits opportunities for residents to connect and advocate for their needs. By engaging local communities in a co-creative process, SMOTIES encouraged them to envision alternative possibilities for shaping the future of their environment and actively participate in its care.

Gamified Cohousing brings life back to abandoned properties across Finland and Europe, transforming them into vibrant spaces that serve as both homes and workplaces. By infusing these spaces with cultural experiences, we offer residents and visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in local traditions and artistry. The result is a fusion of community living, coworking and cultural tourism, designed to drive sustainable urban development while celebrating regional heritage.

Dalarnas Villa, financed by Dalarnas Försäkringsbolag, was developed with partners like Dalarna University and Fiskarhedenvillan AB to test sustainable building solutions. It was among the first Eco-labeled homes, using wood-based materials, cellulose and wood fiber insulation. Designed for easy maintenance, it achieved 130 kg CO₂e/m²—30% below Sweden’s 2025 carbon threshold—highlighting its success in low-emission residential construction.

The Steel Magnolias Center for Entrepreneurship and Psychological Resilience project is a modern center where flowers and green spaces are grown. The center was created on the basis of the Shepetivka repair and maintenance enterprise and is a greenhouse complex and training center, in particular for internally displaced persons, for psychological rehabilitation through floriculture and greenhouse training.

Our centre is a real revolution in supporting the elderly! It is not just a meeting place, but a space for new opportunities, development and active life. Here, elderly people not only receive help, but also discover new talents, master technologies and build a real community. We are breaking down stereotypes about old age and creating a future where everyone feels needed, inspired and happy!

Polimair explores circular industrial ecosystems with the innovative, 100% monomaterial Beluga chair. Made entirely from recycled plastic, this kit chair is designed to be disassembled and remade, supporting a sustainable lifecycle. Our approach aims to transform the furniture industry by combining cutting-edge design with circularity, reducing waste and promoting resource efficiency, while paving the way for more sustainable production methods.

Situated on the fringes of Charleroi, Gilly is a former industrial town whose center is dominated by open-air parking lots, disconnecting public space. A competition was launched for the Destrée Neighborhood’s redevelopment, where CENTRAL proposed an urban transformation based on 3 ecologies: an urban forest reconnecting fragmented spaces, Place Destrée redesigned as a public square, and an extended sports complex. Tailor-made interventions act like urban acupuncture, fostering new interactions.
