Laconic but charming
The new building of Liepāja Secondary School of Music, Art and Design, is a good example of how close work between architects and teachers, can end not only in functional but also creative design for a new building in which new students can achieve their academic and artistic goals.
The LandArt programme is a non-formal educational programme. Youngsters get familiar with the land art artistic movement through a hands-on process cooperating to create with natural materials ephemeral artworks full of meaning and emotions. The LandArt programme’s goal is for youngsters to reconsider the traditional means and methods of art and strengthen their relationship with nature, ultimately developing a shared sense of ownership of the natural and cultural heritage.
Founded in 2000 by a group of young artists, as a centre to promote and develop the arts, La Fabrique Pola moved in 2019, to a permanent location, situated in a warehouse on a former industrial site on the River Garonne in Bordeaux. As a non-profit organisation, created by and for the artists, Pola aims at producing, creating and exhibiting in this new space, as much a cultural centre involving the public, as a space dedicated to to the professional of the visual arts.
This project is a result of an experimental practice that was aimed at finding a substitute for synthetic plastic using only natural resources which would, later on, form a new cycle of nature. I have tested a number of natural materials as well as their mixtures before I came up with the most suitable solution - biodegradable algae-based material. This new material perfectly holds its shape, is waterproof, and protects the product against possible damage.
The ruins of an ancient abandoned church in a small town gave us the opportunity to recovered the building for social and cultural usses . A curated new approach was taken to turn a sacred apace in a multiple use space, while incorporating the old remains. The spirit of the building was conserved, but with a twist to adapt it to new uses. The solutions applied for the new walls and ceiling incorporated materials environmentaly friendly and representaitve of the traditional industry of the area.
ThisContinuity is a system of sustainable, accessible and green planning strategies aiming to activate and reconnect the abandoned industrial sites in a network of self-sufficient, revitalized and healthy urban hubs. Implementation of natural elements into these declined spaces contributes to ecosystem's regeneration and redefines the identity of urban landscape, but also provides the framework for sustainable development, by promoting the active use of public space and it's services.
VCS house, located in Modica in an area with high environment friendly allure, stands out suspended in the void. Transparency and lightness are the keys to the project. In fact, the house is completely elevated, resting on pilotis and has an access walkway. It is also characterized by a combination of technological innovation and local construction tradition. VCS house stands out strongly in the surrounding residential anonymity without being out of place but has seemingly always been there.
Тhe project "Urban spaces for culture" facilitates the revival of underrated urban spaces in Varna, Bulgaria using the synergy of local art communities, administration, students, young architects and urbanists. It proposes ideas about how cultural and social events can take place outdoors (within the context of a pandemic) and how they can support a process of urban renewal to create a network of highly valued walkable urban spaces that reconnect the city of Varna to its Black Sea shore.

Ignorance is Bliss ceramic tiles are glazed using pigments solely derived from industrial metal waste and by-products. Usually, these metals would be mined and undergo excessive processing. Drinking water supply and soil remediation industries, which produce thousands of tons of residue per year and are the main suppliers of metal waste for Ignorance is Bliss ceramic tiles. The collection of 20 selected colours is the result of years of extensive research and experimentation.
