Innovative technology and design take us back to nature with state of the art passive water management systems that make beautiful plant filled streets. Cristobal de Moura Green Street brings it all together with inclusive, participatory city planning.
This pioneering project uses the power of vegetation to manage rainwater where it falls, reducing pollution and water waste, with health benefits for people and the environment. It serves as a model and inspiration for future interventions.

The convent of the Gates of Heaven, in Lisbon, endured several transformations over its 200 years of life. Its survival and role as a cultural and heritage testimony were at risk of being lost, until the City Hall and a Private School signed an agreement for the installation of the Mira Rio School on the premises, thus restoring a decaying ruin and transforming a vacant lot and allowing for the dialogue between old and new, preserving matter and memory and transforming the community.

Since 2003, SIARQ is pioneering the development of high design and energy efficiency sustainable urban furniture. Nowadays the trademark SIARQ is an international reference in the integration of new environmental standards in urban spaces.The Smart City represents the natural market evolution for SIARQ, being their photovoltaic hubs/streetlights the perfect urban infrastructure to enable a compact and sustainable IoT deployment in the urban environment.

Riverdo, collaborative digital service, master's thesis in Design by Chiara Rutigliano and Sofia Collacchioni, supports the development of new social transformations, emerged during Covid-19, giving rise to a healthy, sustainable and inclusive community. The project aims to promote urban wellness in the city of Prato and to establish a network of indirect relationships that solve the municipal needs of managing the spaces of the Bisenzio river park, regenerated through the Riversibility project.

ANIS is an eight-storey mixed-use building of 6.962 m² with terraces. The main originality of the building is the 2,400 m² of outdoor space, nearly almost a third of the interior, which is unique in for office buildings.

Nicolas Laisné and Dimitri Roussel’s design was driven by three guiding principles: creating appealing working spaces, forming meeting places and offering flexible use.

This building is a manifesto for a new generation of buildings.

Our projects play with light, becoming an instrument for the re-enchantment of urban experience, the most powerful tool to build a reinvent new places to meet and share. We live with a desire to be surprised and to be surprised by something new. The boredom born of an excess of flat, homogeneous and globalised information produces in us the need to explore new unique environments, where the magic and the event of surprise transform our daily, professional and personal reality. 

In 2017, the city of Freiburg saw the completion of a new ecologically sustainable home for the previously dispersed city administration. The world’s first net-surplus-energy energy building is more than just an administration hub. The new ensemble is integrated in the green space between Eschholz Park and the University Hospital with his main entrance vis-à-vis the existing building. The newly created the square opens up of at Fehrenbachallee thus creating an additional attractive public space.

This building demonstrated how with a low budget, a whole new life can be brought to an inconspicuous storage building. Today it is an everyday workplace for the company’s management and the fitness studio serves all the employees well. We are delighted that it was possible to create a distinctive building within the monotonous suburban industrial build environment. Distinctive form perfectly manifests it’s social nature whilst hinting the company’s pharmaceutical profile.

The Master in Design for Emergent Futures is a journey into designing for complexity, uncertainty and possibility. The futures we want tomorrow are enabled by the actions we take today. It is a multidisciplinary course which focuses on turning ideas into prototypes, platforms, actions and interventions to transform the current state of society. It is delivered by The Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, ELISAVA School of Design and Engineering, supported by Fab Lab Barcelona. 

ConCom tests innovative education formats focusing on cultural heritage, digital technology, and their societal impact. In 2020/21 it served as a platform for students to explore architecture of Modern Movement by using multiple digital tools for communicating the potential of existing buildings and sites to shape a sustainable, inclusive and aesthetic environment. MoMove was developed in cooperation with Docomomo Int. for open, accessible and reusable knowledge exchange.
