Riverdo, collaborative digital service, master's thesis in Design by Chiara Rutigliano and Sofia Collacchioni, supports the development of new social transformations, emerged during Covid-19, giving rise to a healthy, sustainable and inclusive community. The project aims to promote urban wellness in the city of Prato and to establish a network of indirect relationships that solve the municipal needs of managing the spaces of the Bisenzio river park, regenerated through the Riversibility project.

Sara Culture Centre houses 6 theatre stages, the city library, two art galleries and a 200-room hotel with conference centre, restaurants and spa. Combining timber tradition with modern technology and the local cultural heritage, the 20 storey project is realized with a structure entirely made of timber. Placed at the centre of town, the building opens up to become more than just a culture center, a new living room for the inhabitants of Skellefteå and a showcase for sustainable design.

Circular Home Lab hosts virtual workshops that invite all sustainability enthusiasts to explore the circular materiality of transforming food waste into home products.

Driven by the aim to inform and inspire more sustainable futures, we share stories about the current transitions from global to local production and citizen empowerment within the circular economy through DIY material making.

With its location in the heart of Stockholm, next to Sergels Torg and the Culture House, the S-Building from the building complex Sergelhuset has one of Sweden's most exposed facades. The framework is preserved and the new stone facade mainly consists of recycled granite from the original building. A design approach that maintains a high architectural level, looks back to history but above all protects our resources from a sustainability perspective. 

“Residence Denzer” falls back to a historical method of building in Marmagen, a village in the northern area of the Eifel, focussing on its main characteristics to a modern architecture: Orientated towards the village center; use of local materials like wood and quarry stone; establishing the courtyard as a traditional element. Embedded contemporary elements enter into dialogue about past and present without historizing a formal ingratiation.

Knauf Insulation Experience Center is a place where visitors and users of the building not only hear, but also experience, see and feel all-round versatile quality and sustainable building solutions, both physically and virtually. You can roll up your sleeves and insulate a wall or roof, relax on green roof with great views or put on VR headset and immerse yourself in virtual building worlds. Or just enjoy a coffee while learning about the importance of sustainable construction.

The project MARCHIVUM reflects a culture of reconstruction that combines sustainability, aesthetics and inclusion. A former World War II-era bunker has been transformed into a beautiful and both socially and energy smart home for the city’s archive that provides a vibrant place for research, education and exhibitions. The MARCHIVUM’s new top floors, made of glass, provide transparency and create a connection to the residents of the neighbourhood.

Municipal Market of Kypseli is the first community market of social entrepreneurship & innovation in Greece. Located at one of the most dense & multicultural neighborhoods in Athens the landmark building (1934) was renovated by the Municipality & assigned to Impact Hub Athens to revive it. We deliver a concept adhering values towards social impact, sustainability, social innovation & integration creating a vivid space through culture, education and social entrepreneurship.

Recreate communities and reinvent geographies of association by providing affordable housing supply and high quality living conditions in european cities, such as Rome, illustrates the purpose of this collective living project. Combining green and circular activities, in order to mobilize local socio-ecological knowledge, with adaptation of eco-friendly and inclusive design solutions, aims to introduce a new urban model of shared and co-creative living, which implies long-term resilience.

Towns and villages across Ireland have been integral to economic and cultural life for centuries. They can also be great places to live and work for modern lifestyles. To support those involved in towns and villages, the RIAI has launched this free online resource. The RIAI Town and Village Toolkit provides a practical toolkit, references and successful case studies of places that have been transformed with architectural guidance.
