NEB Prizes 2021: All Applications

Our project is about people´s enthusiasm , cooperation in the local community, it is about volunteering. The people see the importance of the environmental protection of local biodiversity. In the end they created the outdoor class, rainy garden and a minor fruit garden. The local communities. non-profit organizations and Kosice Self- governing Region joined our activity. We are convinced that individuals contributions can lead to partial renewal of climate changes in global range.

The new building of the library was created with the aim to build it as a modern multifunctional center, which will house not only the library, but also the birth adn marriage Registry Office, as well meeting and socialization place especially interesting for youth. Building created for the lowest consumption of resources for heating and ventilation. The intelligently controlled lighting installed ensure that the lighting level changes from the supplyof natural light.

Cultural events, in contemporary cities, are no longer an exception but an outstanding practice used as social and economic engines of development. Are events capable of transforming the city? Are they useful in rethinking the public space? We reshape entire neighbourhoods designing architectural devices for events involving the citizens without the medium of consumption. Changing the focus from gentrification to inclusivity we transform an underused street in a place full of devices for events.

Woodhouse Rosendal is a new timber block in Uppsala with a strong character. The focus has been on how shared spaces, commercial facilities, cultivation and urban space can be used in a generous and innovative way for multi-family housing in the city. The aim is to offer a block with a community feeling – encouraging sharing and social encounters in spaces where goods and services can be efficiently traded and shared.

At Gollierstr. 86, 86a, 84, 84a - c and Westendstr. 151, two neighbouring properties in Munich, GWG München, has realised a district development, which changed an outdated housing situation with an unattractive courtyard to a modern, lively ensemble with high living- and open space-quality. The six buildings, including a new elemented-timber construction, offer 73 rental apartments, three retails units and two artists’ studios with a total of 5,165 m² of living space and 326 m² commercial space.

Ceramic DNA was created to show that our ceramic crafts are a distinctive asset of Mediterranean design, contributing values like precision, high aesthetic sense, sustainability and expertise.
The project promotes social cohesion by highlighting the value of a community who work to create a unique identity through a heritage associated with our region. It also creates a community that is not only made up of artists and craftsmen, but also stakeholders as industries, schools and museums.

Umeå provides a tour around the city to show ‘the gendered landscape of Umeå’. This is an innovative way of demonstrating how a gender equality-based approach is taking shape in the city. The tour points out successful changes and work in the city, as well as highlighting remaining issues in line with Umeå’s ambitious plans on sustainability and gender equality. Watch short video here: The gendered landscape - YouTube

By transforming a bus stop into a more welcoming, safe and less stressful environment for the traveller, the Station of Being, encourages people to use public transport.

The bus stop’s 'smart' roof uses light and sound to alert travellers that a bus is approaching, and each bus line has its own unique sound. The timber pods within the structure rotate automatically to protect travellers from the weather without requiring any power and allow them to interact by creating social spaces.

Freezone (In Swedish “Frizon”) is one of Sweden's first public outdoor environment that focuses on young girls taking place in the public space. Through dialogues between young girls in Umeå, the city administration, architects, designers and builders, the girl’s ideas and design have resulted in an equal and including meeting place “without expectations”, for everyone to enjoy for socializing and hanging out.
