Sara Cultural Centre is housing the regional theatre, two art museums and the city library as well as a hotel and conference centre. Luoghi Comuni is a refurbishment action of two disused places carried out by Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation through direct investment in a PPP. The two buildings provide temporary social housing solutions, where social managers grant a strong social mix among tenants and continuous interaction among guests and with neighbouring intercultural communities. Green technologies, social mix, and quality aesthetics make Dwellings sustainability and innovation best practices in the field.

As part of ‘Circular Construction, Conscious Design and Certification’, FAUP participation in Concreta (Portuguese construction largest fair) took as a starting point the theme of sustainability, framing these concepts and concerns in a sense of rediscovering traditions. From the co-construction of the space, with several types of wattle and daub, to the promotions of the practical workshops, the Plaza Alumni FAUP Past-Future was a place of knowledge sharing and dissemination.
Our interdisciplinary design and research focussed on the development of composite materials, as viable alternatives to portland cement based products. The material production and manufacture used local resources and its application in architecture as Facade cladding pannels fits sensitively into the regional context. Our design and research output was shown in Contemporary Arts centre Archipelago.
The new "Degree in Design. Universidad de Navarra" is an experience that fits perfectly within the framework pursued by the "New European Bauhaus wave", it is a teaching methodology that integrates the theoretical, practical, technical, and creative contents, which acquire their whole meaning applied to a project. The students, through the practical and creative exercise of the project, can connect and understand the whole constellation of subjects, ideas and teachings offered to them.
