NEB Prizes 2021: All Applications

The name of the city says it all – “Nye” is the Danish word for “new”. A new city built from scratch with one overall mission: to design a beautiful and sustainable city with a strong social purpose. A city that in its mindset and functionality inspires a local commitment and sense of community, with a deep awareness of sustainability. AART has contributed to this city with 30 innovative wooden terraced houses that nudge a new way of living – based on sharing, co-creating and socializing.

Politico Poetico is a pact between the city of Bologna, the theatre institutions, and the students. An innovative educational model was designed to integrate secondary school courses with an immersive journey aimed at discussing the 2030 Agenda Goals and how these are declined into local actions within the metropolitan area. Through workshops, games, shows, and the involvement of local associations and institutions new generations were given the tools to raise their voices for future actions.

DigiMooD, a 28-months project co-funded by the European Commission under the pilot call "Creative Europe - Modules for Masters in Art and Science". It aimed to develop and test the offer of a set of innovative and interdisciplinary educational modules in "Digital Entrepreneurship for the Creative Industries", with a specific application to the Fashion industry, its companies' branding and narrative strategies, and the digital service models. 

It is a project that gathers young people within the frame of social interaction, by creating opportunities for social activies such as interactive workshops, seminars, competitions, urban walks and art curations, while considering, shaping and building the city's sustainable future.

The Growing Pavilion is an ode to the beauty and power of biobased materials. It stands as a necessary and viable solution for reducing the rising impacts of climate change and the use of fossil resources. With this structure we show the possibilities, and above all the wonderful beauty, of biobased construction. The pavilion is unique in the way in which a large number of biobased materials, such as wood, hemp, mycelium, cattail and cotton, come together to form an extraordinary creation.

The Exploded View stands for a radical new look at the realization of a home: pulling apart and dissecting the endless amount of applications that are present in a house, in order to rebuild them with circular applications and biobased materials. The ones that already exist but are still difficult to find their way to the construction site but also developments that still need serious support to develop and scale up. Applications and materials of today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

Gaia 4.0 is  a product display for shops to showcase their sustainable products, Gaia is based on the circular economy, biomimicry, the eco-design precepts and born from the Gaia theory and the principle that the planets don’t emit their own light but reflect the sun’s light. Like an eclipse that captures the user’s attention at the moment of showrooming.

There is a lot of car traffic in cities, especially in their centers. Its saturation causes undesirable phenomena. They are: air pollution with exhaust gases, pollution with solid particles from wearing tires and brakes, and environmental pollution with noise.  They cause civilization diseases.
This project aims to eliminate or seriously limit these phenomena through the use of magnetic motion and presence detectors. These devices use the ubiquitous, free Earth magnetism.
