NEB Prizes 2021: All Applications

Today’s food production is unsustainable, and one solution is seaweed farming. Obstacles are that, in Sweden, there’s a lack of knowledge about seaweed and we are not used to eating it. Blue Garden is a service, introducing seaweed in Sweden and connecting consumers to Swedish seaweed farmers. It consists of a mobile application, a Harvest box and a Try-out kit. Blue Garden enables easy access to seaweed, an improved food connection, increased knowledge and engagement through a community network

The three themes Food, Nature and History have been translated throughout the Pianosa island in order to regenerate it in its entirety: both the Penal Colony and the country. The architectural project allows the coexistence of a recovery of the Old Port area together with a new area dedicated to the Glamping. An idea based on four keywords, permeability, sustainability, essentiality and modularity, in order to achieve the recycling targets aimed at the social reintegration of inmates.

Modernist housing estates are rejected, just as the Haszkovó housing estate in the city of Veszprém, Hungary. Their stories are understood as the stories of failed urban developments, they are grey, sad and soulless. Can something be soulless and grey which gives home to 20.000 inhabitants? Instead of let our prejudices to drive our view on modernist housing estates, is that possible to reconsider our relation and think about them as “real cities” and to complete them with creative ideas?

UNBLIND aspires to make living spaces available in new ways following the values of sustainability, aesthetic, and inclusiveness, linking technological research to local resources. This will be met by building visitor itineraries in both outdoor heritage spaces and museums where blind people can touch and experience architectural and urbanistic 3D models. In this way, we will enable every citizen to take part in the collective experience provided by cultural aggregation moments.

Heritage management institution, local arts initiative, urban gardening community and passionate heritage volunteers working together for 5 years to change the abandoned First World War heritage site to a resilient community hub in harmony with nature and history.

Largely based on voluntary effort and with limited funds, this has been a long, open co-creation process which has led to a unique place for arts and culture, biodiversity and community urban gardening with sustainability at heart.

It intends to generate fresh foundations for public housing based on specialized digital tools and an open design research program. The objective is to meet the demands of new forms of communal living, within a framework of compact, legitimate and sustainable houses.

ŠAFKO ALREADY DOESN'T EXIST.

But - Šafko was a STARTER. 

Šafko led to a MOVEMENT in a society - particularly in the City of Bratislava - people started to look at the public space in a different way - they started to love to use it. It nudged communities in sharing the space, in living outside their houses and flats. It helped to get people interested in politics and nowadays we have a new mayor coming from creative surroundings rapidly changing Bratislava to a really European city.

This playful chair is stripped to the minimum: a carved solid ash seat and six legs of equal length to screw. It takes pitch-perfect accuracy to design its simple looks. Every single detail is carefully studied, the length and angles of the legs are engineered to obtain the best proportions and to offer superior ergonomics and a great sitting position. It takes a minute to assemble it, and another one to flat-pack it back into a small box for transportation or shipping.
