Product description:

This playful chair is stripped to the minimum: a carved solid ash seat and six legs of equal length to screw. It takes pitch-perfect accuracy to design its simple looks. Every single detail is carefully studied, the length and angles of the legs are engineered to obtain the best proportions and to offer superior ergonomics and a great sitting position. All this and the added flexible foam backrest make Naïve a surprisingly comfortable chair. It takes a minute to assemble it and another one to flat-pack it back into a small box for transportation or shipping. As an extra feature, the easily interchangeable parts enable the user to play with the chair’s color palette, from classical solid wood to a mix of joyful tones.

Key objectives for sustainability

  • Naïve chair can be flat-packed into a small box for transportation or shipping. This way, we are trying to reduce the CO2 footprint and allow our customers to locate these items with ease.
  • Naïve chair is certified, made from high-quality, long-lasting materials (solid ash), and features an elegant, timeless design. This way, the chair is ready to serve generations to come, with no need to be replaced because of its outdated looks or condition.
  • As the item is made from natural wood, it is eco-friendly, too.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

Aesthetics:

It feels as if the Naïve chair could have been drawn by a child – six sticks and one seat. That’s all there is to it! Though it takes pitch-perfect accuracy to design these simple looks. Every single detail is carefully studied, the length and angles of the legs are engineered to obtain the best proportions and to offer superior ergonomics and a great sitting position. All this and the added flexible foam backrest make Naïve a surprisingly comfortable chair.

Naïve chair is composed of long-lasting natural materials and stands out with a soft and welcoming look. Calm and elegant design of the Naïve chair allows adapting it to any interior — from public to private spaces.

Backrest: Gabriel Step Melange is made of Trevira CS, which is a 100% polyester material suited for environments with special requirements for cleaning. It could be easily recycled and has STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® EU Ecolabel.

Ash tree wood has FSC certificate.

Quality of experience:

Naïve chair is created by professional designers "etc.etc. studio" (Inesa Malafej and Arūnas Sukarevičius), developed together with an experienced designed studio EMKO, and produced by local manufacturers. All parties involved in making this chair have lots of experience in their field; their work is appreciated in local and international markets, competitions, and events.

Key objectives for inclusion

All the production processes of the Naïve chair take place in Lithuania (this way trying to make a smaller CO2 footprint) and involve local businesses and creators:

  • The manufacturers of Naïve chair are family-owned or medium-sized businesses operating in Lithuania.
  • The chair is designed by young Lithuanian designers (under 30 years old).
  • EMKO is a Lithuanian-based furniture design and home-accessory company with roots set in the ancient Baltic tradition of craftsmanship. EMKO aims to highlight both — exceptional design of local creators and the rising potential of Lithuanian manufacturers.

Results in relation to category

Naïve chair is submitted for the "Products and life style" category, which is looking for products and processes that contribute to a sustainable, attractive, and inclusive lifestyle.

As mentioned in this application, Naïve chair meets these values with its unique construction, materials, and expertise of the team.

How Citizens benefit

For a few years already, EMKO is collaborating with the local charity initiative (Rimanto Kaukėno paramos fondas), helping children diagnosed with cancer. 2% from every purchase is donated to this foundation.

Innovative character

  • Naïve chair features a body that can be easily unscrewed and flat-packed.
  • The chair is composed of long-lasting natural materials and suits organically to every background.
  • Chair production processes connect young talents and local manufacturers.
