It is a continuous discussion on refugee crisis with the voice of emerging materials in transforming artefacts as messages. It comprises 3 participatory recycled art installations.

In The Chessboard of the World (2016), the materials transformed into a giant chessboard, as a static state on refugee movements. In The Birds (2017), 14 big birds are visiting places in the city of Mytilene, as a slight motion. In The Birds of Freedom (2018), 652 birds escaped from a cage and flown away from Lesvos

Based on movement and migration as universal constants, BoAT responds as a mobile space, a shared device to promote inclusiveness by connecting people, communities, and cities to navigate towards a common horizon. A floating and sustainable building in symbiosis with water landscapes and port infrastructure while changing its shape according to each event. A tool for the conservation of the seas, where arts, technology, and science activate environmental commitment and educational experiences.

We are design students at Anhalt University in Dessau and, once again on Bauhaus campus, we change the way design is studied today. Inspired by the Bauhaus heritage and permaculture principles, we initiated a grassroots movement to restructure how we work, learn and live together – by design. We started with a vision, created a space for it, grew into a community and changed the organisation bottom-up. Now the idea is much bigger than us and we want to share it far beyond the borders of Dessau.

Hal5 is a financially self-sustaining temporary redevelopment of an abandoned protected railway hall.

The project was initiated by the neighbourhood and provides affordable space and cross breeding between social organisations, entrepreneurs and the neighbours. The project includes a food court with a bar, a social grocery store, event spaces, parkour halls for adults and todlers, social organizations, a coffee roaster, a short-chain bakery, urban agriculture and a flower picking garden

Intensifying and accentuating different forest-urbanism systems

The vision focuses on an area of 2.5x2.5km, which seeks a proposal for a new system of surface water that could help store floodwater and reduce flood peaks, and how it is know that the process of land fill is through the creation of “new land”, as the creation of new #nature and urban transformation with new housing typology, and recreation and leisure programs, but at the same time preventing urban sprawl. 

In October 2018, we, Michael Hohl and Mathilde Scholz, tried a new experimental approach of teaching design theory to first year Bachelor students of integrated design in Dessau, Germany. The students locate problems in their own environment, at home, on the campus or in town, and use design theory and design methods to better understand their problems and develop solutions. They experience self-efficacy and intrinsic motivation. They see that they can change to world for the better.

These products combine the benefits of modern minimalist design with the humanity and purity of the handcrafted process.

We propose to integrate an eco-sustainable complex in an abandoned area in the city of Piacenza, Italy. This space would be transformed to a recreation area where people can meet and learn something about biology in a botanical park, take a walk in a green area and relax in their spare time. In addition to this, shops, residential buildings, and a kindergarten would bring life to this site; storytelling of the history of this area combined with new artistic events would make this place special.
