Living in an Independent Living Space. Autonomy at different scales depending on the site and the location and use. Heating, lighting, washing, everyday needs whose hidden complexity we forget.

For the 8,300 m2 of built surface area, consisting of 85 social housing units laid out on five levels, a total of 2,000m3 of zero kilometer timber from the Basque Country has been used. The bases of this new residential building are a matrix of communicating rooms that eliminates corridors to guarantee optimum use of the floor plan and the use of timber to enable the industrialization of elements, improved quality of construction and a major reduction of deadlines and C02 emissions.

This Project brings together 17 museums Austrian-wide, to develop activities for each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals by the UN. For the first time ever, internationally, a broad range of cultural institutions work together to contribute to a sustainable social transformation. Activities range from raising awareness to leading discourse to generating solutions and acting as role models. Thus, a strong sense of belonging is achieved among staff members, stakeholders and local communities.

The project  is an example of a new type of responsible and holistic design for children and the whole community. The school yard is like a park and serves all the different users in all times. Sustainability from all perspectives was considered throughout the design process in material selection, in functionality, and via the participative design process. The learning landscape encourages creative play and offers opportunities for nature observation and contact with nature.

The term “(e)xtant” describes that which still exists, that which has not disappeared, that which continues. XTANT speaks of looking back to move forward, of valuing the traditions inherited from our ancestors, of honoring the richness and diversity of our tangible and intangible heritage, of remembering everything that makes us human.

XTANT is part of a far-reaching global initiative whose objective is to establish a heritage textile guild for the modern age.

Reinventing UNITO aims at creating a BIM-GIS platform for asset management of the diffuse campus of the University of Turin in order to promote efficient and sustainable operation and maintenance of large building stock. The core focus is the information management through AM (Asset Management) for the valorization and energy transition and management of the university buildings adopting a users’ centered approach by means of a web-based application that promotes transparency and collaboration.

Palácio Marquês de Abrantes project tests new ways of producing architecture. We try to create a renovation process of an outstanding building that might be seen as a manifesto - an anti-gentrification manifesto. This process is a laboratory, trying to create new means and forms of production of architecture that may be replicated in similar situations abroad.
