GOOD news is a non-profit news aggregator with the main objective to counter the negative mainstream news headlines with well-informed optimism. Our readers get fresh, inspiring goodnews every day via free Mobile App, via website or newsletter. We work hard to soothe the negative psychological impact of mainstream media and aim to inform, inspire and psychologically empower individuals to actively take part in positive social change.

Summary
GOOD news (international) is a positive news aggregator that aims to counter the negativity bias in mainstream media by curating daily news on constructive, solution-oriented approaches to humanities’ most pressing challenges. The ambitious, expanding project of the Berlin-based Good Impact Foundation launched in 2021 as a separate project, building on the experience gained from the successful German pilot, aiming at a more international audience. As a donation-based initiative, we seek external funding to strategically advance our project and maximize our social impact on an international level.
Direct outcome objectives include informing about positive developments, solutions, and innovations; inspiring change-makers through informed optimism; transforming pessimism and anxiety into solutions-thinking, and psychologically empowering individuals to actively take part in positive social change. We strongly believe information strengthens democracies, and giving a voice to relevant minorities, amplifying innovative ideas and replicable solutions, and sharing solutions already out there can build a global network of positive information exchange that can bring together individuals and projects to find new, transdisciplinary solutions.
Our current focus is on upscaling our proven concept to establish GOOD news as a strong, international initiative by growing our outreach and social impact. GOOD news wants to offer a well-informed counterpart that can help alleviate the various anxieties created by the often seemingly unsolvable global crises we are exposed to on a daily basis. Good news should be accessible for everyone, understandable independent from the readers’ level of education and easy to share with friends and family across linguistic and cultural borders. The main challenge is to achieve organic growth whilst staying true to our core values of providing free and easy access to essential, optimistic information - without advertisements or paywalls.

GOOD news is a platform that aims to promote sustainable projects, innovative news and breakthrough technology that helps build a greener future. We encourage circular solutions to waste problems and sustainable new approaches to challenges we face, no matter of what scale or geographical location. We hope to create a network of information exchange for future-thinking change-makers and sustainable policy builders, though our contribution is informative and inspirational. By promoting partners with aligned principles we hope to contribute not only to improving the mental health of our readers, but to bringing together global players and open a new channel that inspitres to build true solutions.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
GOOD news uses a free app as the main platform to aggregate positive news in an appetizing, easily accessible manner: often the original news pieces are buried behind pages of negative news coverage, they are written in overly scientific terms, require niche background information or they simply do not receive any attention beyond local or minority focussed media. Also, solutions are not always visible to the unschooled eye, and the problem must be understood to capture the positivity and impact of a solution, a new technology, a different perspective, as simple as it may sometimes seem.
GOOD news wants to cover all this and fill a gap:
The free App provides a short summary of fresh positive news on an attractive platform for daily news consumption; the Webpage is an easily navigable archive of solution news; and on Instagram we aim to condense the good news in simple language and catchy phrasing for maximum inclusion of a diverse audience without banalizing the issues.

GOOD news is an international project and inclusion is one of the main principles we defend: we cover news on inclusive projects, gender equality, restoration efforts, inclusive technology, minority solutions. We promote diversity, inclusivity and free digital access to information. We defend minorities and help raise voices. Our app is completely free of charge and advertisement free, making it accessible for anyone from a large variety of devices and platforms. We intend to break down language barriers by spreading positive news across geographical boundaries and aim to present the news in a way that makes even complex medical breakthroughs and their possible future impact universally comprehensable.
Results in relation to category
We have been lucky enough to get regular feedback directly from our readers and are happy to witness the positive impact GOOD news has on mental health. In the current global climate many people are overwhelmed by the mainstream media and simply can't cope with the amount of bad news presented to them. Many issues are dealt with in a sensationalist manner that makes it seem like there is no way out, no solutions, no perspective. This is not true. Solutions are everywhere - they need to be made more visible, to more people, without cultural or educational barriers. We are proud to be able to provide a platform for information, inspiration and optimism - for the simple “news consumer”, for people seeking positive news, but also for scientists, activists, and change makers to inspire one another to find even more innovative solutions to global, or sometimes local, challenges.
How Citizens benefit
We had no direct inc¡volv,ent of citizens but we very much cherish the feedback we get for our work. We are convinced that by creating a source of informatoin of solutions, possibilities and positive outcomes citizens become syrengthened in their motivation to engage in positive social change.

Mainstream media needs to sell with its headlines - and sensationalist negative news tends to bait more clicks. GOOD news wants to provide a steady stream of positive news beyond simple feel-good stories, showing our readers there are solutions out there, at our disposal, and the future can be bright for all of us. In comparison to other positive news outlets we have realized we distinguish ourselves through the following:

- GOOD news is critical of the context of the news and follows clear principles. Curiosities, oddities, restoring faith in humanity through testimony or just pretty pictures is not enough. We want to provide solid, fact-checked, relevant news that is not out-of date and can inspire next steps in other fields by opening up boundaries and sharing interdisciplinary approaches
Learning transferred to other parties
GOOD news is a simpe concept - and for that same reason it can be applied to any given area, as its own project or as a white label for institutions or aligned companies. Name an area of interest and our team will search over 300 news outlets to find related, relevant positive stories from around the world that inspire other people to take action, seek solutions and find optimistic, interdisciplinary approaches. The concept of focusing on good is simple and effectful. Focusing on objective, fact-based, universal good is empowering.
