Representation of the EU is in despair – and with it its architecture. Transformative pressure of raising individualism and globalization is calling for Eurotopia, both research project and reconfiguration of European representation. It challenges the current status, driven by tales of old nation states, with the concept of a network representation that exceeds national boundaries to create connected identities by enabling political participation through build architecture.

The Sustainable-Sustainable Architecture Postgraduate Programme is a pilot collaboration between an experimental NGO and an established institute of higher education that empowers its students to re-build houses and re-imagine public spaces with impoverished families and communities while getting everyone’s hands dirty and using natural, local and reclaimed materials as well as low-tech approaches to generate beautiful and healthy habitats adapted to everyone’s needs and imaginations.

How do you build a sustainable lifestyle and transform the way we live ?

This is the question raised, via 5 teenagers’ journey, the theatrical NEMESIS project, written and promoted by Anna Jousselin.

Art, ecology, co-living, sustainable communities, inclusion and accessibility are at the heart of this itinerant and interactive project.

How can we involve and celebrate further nature and the living in the way we design, build and experience public spaces?

In order to make cities more sustainable, inclusive and creative places as well as to raise awareness of how humans may equitably collaborate with nature, I designed semi-organic urban structures and furniture concept whom making process rely on a terracotta modules/taut cables system and the growth of a climbing plant, like wisteria or ivy.

The NEST house, reminiscent of the old wooden beam house on the mountain site, too damaged to be saved, rises from its original forms, the existing materials gaining new functions.

The weather is constantly changing: strong sun, gusts of rain and even the "lamb icing", the last snow with ice chunks in April. The elements of the house also participate in the acoustics: the constant roar of the wind, a barking in the distance, ice grains jumping from one shingle to another... but inside silence.

Hidden among the reeds of Lake Iseo, the Floating Nest is a haven for both birdwatchers and those looking for a peaceful retreat. Mimicking the nests of the protected avian species in the area, it blends seamlessly with the environment, allowing for discreet fauna observation.
The design of a floating platform avoids soil consumption and prompts full natural integration. Plants and birds are free to take over niches expressly designed favouring the overcoming of the dichotomy natural-artificial.

Hearthy is an interactive augmented reality application that is looking to inspire sustainable agents of change. Its goal is to allow children between 7 and 10 years old with congenital hearing loss hear what the earth is claming for and rescue them from oblivion. Thanks to Hearthy they can leave their bubble and shape a meaningful purpose of life in a new way through a sustainable experience. Can you hear the Earth calling? Kick off this journey and become an agent of change.

How can co-creation contribute to empower communities to sustainable innovation ecosystems, while giving impulse to changes at a larger scale? 

SISCODE explored bottom-up and design-driven participatory approaches to better integrate civil society in science and innovation. Through 10 pilots across Europe, it successfully engaged multiple stakeholders from the context, constructing 10 ecosystems as designing, enabling, and innovative communities where to co-create desirable solutions together.
