The municipality of Saint Benoit-la-Chipotte, 500 inhabitants, wants to transform its village centre from a landscape wart into a multi-generational, inclusive space for culture and sharing that respects the environment and biodiversity. The aim is to make the village more attractive by rehabilitating its run-down heritage and integrating it into the ongoing ecological transition.
Construction of a high-energy-performance public building to consolidate several services currently spread across outdated and inefficient facilities. This project aims to improve energy efficiency, user comfort, and accessibility. Designed to be exemplary and attractive, this new space will become a meeting point for the local community.
Banca del Fare is a project born in 2016 to restore the vernacular architectural heritage of Alta Langa, addressing the abandonment and degradation of traditional Langhe constructions. The project promotes a sustainable rural development pattern under three premises: the use of local materials, traditional ways of building, and the promotion of hands-on education. The transmission of old construction techniques bridges together local artisans and students in a workshop-school environment.
The need for the revival of the Vehkalahti Local Museum arose from the poor condition of its old, culturally significant building. Envisioned as a space for local communities' self-driven activities, the museum reflects the city's commitment to ecological and inclusive values. The 2003 merging of Vehkalahti with Hamina emphasized the importance of keeping the name alive, fostering local pride. The renovation also offered a chance to refresh the museum's exhibition.
The commune wishes to renaturalize the schoolyard by removing the current asphalt. UFS approach will be considered for this schoolyard, in order to enhance the quality of life, enable the schoolyard to be appropriated.
In Marcoussis, the Chêne-Rond third place will breathe new life into former castle outbuildings by transforming them into a space for sharing, working, and solidarity. It is part of a 20-year transition plan co-designed with residents to build a more sustainable village. Located in a neighborhood certified as "innovative and ecological neighborhoods" with 149 social housing units, it will be a place for connection, a space for learning and creating, and a resource hub for daily life.
The museum was born from an ambitious idea: to recover and enhance the memory of enterprising typographers who, between the 16th and 17th centuries, travelled the paths of printing, frequenting the most important cultural centres in Italy and beyond. Rooted in circular economy principles, local craftsmanship, and community-led decision-making, this will deliver a Model with replicable solutions for NEB-oriented rural regeneration.
