Community spaces of socialist-era collective housings in Eastern Europe lay at the crossroads of private and public urban life. While some of these spaces are well-kept and represent an oasis of green in the middle of the urban concrete jungle, their potential remains largely untapped. UnBlocKit aims to become an intervention tool which empowers and equips residents to transform their community spaces into high quality, open areas accustomed to their own needs.

The project aims to define an occupancy-oriented Digital Twin to efficiently monitor, manage, and optimize an office building based on the actual occupancy. Spaces will be organized, assigned, cleaned, and maintained according to actual users’ needs. Indoor Environmental Quality will be monitored and controlled. Users will express their opinions and suggestions, and the system will target their satisfaction and well-being in the workplace promoting inclusiveness and energy and cost savings.
The project proposes a Digital Participation Platform paired with Natural Language Processing tools to harness the large-scale collective intelligence of citizens contained in textual information produced in online public consultations, improving legitimacy, transparency, and inclusiveness of the public decision-making process. The alignment of large-scale public engagement with Participatory and Co-design aims to address social, economic, and environmental challenges in the built environment.

It is said that the world is kept on children's heads and enhanced on the heads of intelligent and educated children.
