NEB Prizes 2022: All Applications

This project takes place in Lizières, a center for residences and cultural activities in a territory in devitalization, a place which is also home to several species of endangered birds. The aim is to renovate an abandoned dovecote (eco-construction) in order to facilitate the cohabitation of birds, artists and participants, to create a shelter for birds and for participative experiments, notably bioacoustics. The objective is to converge artistic avant-garde and renewed attention to the living.

In 1974, a war has irrevocably separated Greeks & Turks in Cyprus. From then, the two communities have lived back to back, separated by an impassable border. Omitting their shared history and roots, both communities developed on each side an irreconcilable antagonism ingrained for generations. Since 2006, a dialogue has been restored and more Cypriots are dreaming of a united island despite the Historical mutual distrust.

This project wills to restore peace in Europe through common grounds.

The plasticity of the material earth is almost endless and can thereby unfold a great complexity. This property is challenged in the project ineinander by the combination with different materials. Sophisticated connections complement the rammed earth not only constructively, but also aesthetically. Through these combinations, the application of rammed earth is expanded and invites new, sculptural and formal variations. The result of an initial exploratory study is a bench.

It is a surfboard made respecting a design and production system that can bring to the world an innovative concept of surfboard towards a more ecological horizon: A study and selection of non-polluting raw materials, as well as the use of manufacturing techniques that can maximize and significantly reduce prices and costs.

Playfully Reimagining Place aims to harness the creative optimism of graduate’s architecture theses to provoke a re-imagining or re-evaluation of a place. Our ambition is to empower communities by facilitating an inclusive dialogue through interactive exhibitions.

This project is an initiative of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s Graduate Panel, a collective of graduate architects, who collaborate through peer learning, to contribute toward shaping an inclusive and sustainable future.

hOUT is a product/service that addresses the issue of homelessness both in the short term, through a direct approach to meet the immediate needs of the homeless, and in the long term, through an awareness campaign aimed at changing society's approach to this phenomenon.
This campaign is implemented in the streets by the protagonists of this phenomenon themselves, helping to create a direct and sincere relationship between homeless people and passers-by.

Zèta is a french sustainable shoe brand created with the goal to "make beautiful with waste".
Our shoes are made from recycled materials and waste in Portugal within a family workshop, complying with working conditions and fair remuneration.
Our new project is to create the first French Workshop only devoted on : "Fashion and Circularity".
By collaborating with different local/national/international actors, our objective is to make people aware of ecologic consequences of fashion industry

"Balisa" accompanies and supports the healing process of adult survivors of child sexual abuse. A series of pieces are provided that facilitate communication between psychologist and survivor through the representation in volume of the emotions that are experienced during the healing process. Each emotion is linked to a piece, these are stacked together and form a totem that the person takes home with the aim of autonomously follow their emotional management and define a safety zone.

The concept developed as a student-project - My aim was to create a sustainable structure, however with the critical analysis of the increasing consumption of wood in the construction industry.

Our forests within the region Berlin-Brandenburg can only produce so much timber so we must look elsewhere to find solutions for ecological, affordable and healthy ways of construction and housing, and answer lays literally underneath our feet...

In a collaborative effort, students form groups and create their own ventures together. The students then set out, through the venture, to tackle a sustainability problem in order to come a bit closer to reaching the UNSDGs. Along the way they get mentoring from renowned experts on the SDGs as well as key masterclasses from leading entrepreneurs in running the business.
