NEB Prizes 2022: All Applications

Skiljelinjer is a tool for cocreated design and a new design methodology. It is based on a playful combination of new design technologies and new decision-making practices in collaborative design. Through a custom-built augmented reality app, citizens design together in physical spaces, these designs are voted on and can be ranked by both popularity and controversy, ensuring that all sides are heard. The project makes citizen participation in the urban environment more fun and engaging.

The aim of "TerraCool project " is to create island of freshness made by 3D printing with local raw earth and recycling waste everywhere in the world. The main issues are :
- The creation of new urban amenities such as cool islands designed to make the city habitable in the face of global warming and the increase in intensity and duration of heat waves.
- The ecological production of built environments through a "low-tech" approach based on local materials and an open source 3D printing.

"Trabb" is a word from the Bolognese dialect that indicates a space dedicated to socializing, eating and celebrating among friends. It consisted of many rural families that shared what they produced.

"Trabb Lab" is a place where food lovers can meet to learn how to make traditional food, guided by experienced volunteers, and taste their results.

This initiative is focused on a "zero-waste" approach that supports local farmers.

By building a strawbale room at a meadow orchard a network grows together as a community which co-created this shared space in nature. In the process, they discover the beauty of life’s circularity and of natural materials. An understanding of straw and clay as regenerative resources, as sensual designers and as social networkers emerges. Through wilderness awareness and deep ecology, the created space will serve as a portal to reconnect with the landscape, its living beings and nature itself.

By scattering workshop/pavilions along the Red Thread landscape - the studio’s primary assignment - our intention is to circulate tourism throughout the city, amending the lopsided impact of “the Bilbao Effect,” in which a major cultural institution (like Dessau’s new Bauhaus Museum) pumps the local economy but does little to improve social life for local residents.

Fieldstudio is an interdisciplinary arts and research platform who aim to integrate environmental consciousness into the artistic process. The goal for this project is to develop a model for working with ecological and social sustainability within a community through a research based and collaborative artistic process. Our main strategy is to use artistic methods combined with statistics as a way of mapping the region. Art becomes a tool to convey and embody the poetic phenomena of place.

Cultural, educational and adventure program for young people from all over the world that organizes an expedition every year. For people who do not want to be mere tourists.

VLEK is a piece of furniture made out of the bright-colored leftovers of plastic tubing that are being discarded from construction sites. It combines a playful and modern aesthetic with a straightforward technical design, while staying a local initiative. It could be described as either a piece of furniture, a circular statement and a boost for local creative communities and local circular economy.

This project is subjected to the weather the way we are subjected to it. It is a direct response on what is happening right now and uses what was given to us by nature as a main material of work. Can we create art pieces based on a current weather situation? Ephemeral materials like wind, rain, cloud, fog, snow, hail the are main resources. Can art be weather-specific? The goal is not to change the weather, nor protect from it, but acknowledge it and use its conditions as the main energy of art.

Indico is a bike evaluation system that collects experiences, reviews and evaluations.  All through indexes differentiated by categories of interest. Indico is a service dedicated to the Sun Cycle Route, which aims to integrate the opinions of experts to those of the visitors to facilitate a simple and effective planning of the route, convincing even the most skeptical to take a trip along the cycle path.
