The musicrobot DIO is a digital product design which creates bridges between local people and the explorers(users) in the travelled region. The whole purpose of the project is to give cultural information through music, connections and sharings about the places that people travelled. Also creates alternative discover routes to understand the identitiy of places with unique storytelling methods.

Summary

Our aim is to give an unique discovery experience and cultural information by participatory designed system through music which is called the music robot DIO.

Here is the beginning of the story of our project. The story starts in 2060. GLX (Galaxy) music company produced music robots to accompany and guide people on their travel. Over time, the distrust to these robots has increased due to the developing technology. Production of these robots are discontinued. As time passed by, they started traveling by themselves and spread all over the world. The sole purpose of these liberated robots are to discover music, collect stories and share them with the people in the regions they've travelled.

The music robot DIO is a fictional animated character which is created with Design Fiction method following the story. Our project is an digital product/service design which give an unique discovery experience and cultural information to explorers through music.

Key objectives for sustainability

The music robot DIO is an digital product design/service which will be based on website/mobile application using Augmented Reality interface. There will be no physical products. Hence our application does not produce any enviromental pollution.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

The music robot DIO offers to change how people interact with the region they have travelled. The main idea is to present explorers an unique discovery experience with the storytelling and music. In the meantime, enhancing the process of travelling to make it more related with the value of region. To achieve that we will build a connections between locals and explorers to share their knowledge, local musics and their memories through digital product design DIO.

With this unique exploration process that we offer, explorers who is new in the city will be able to access alternative routes which are less popular and more related with the region through storytelling and music.

Today, there is no such a method that provides to access "music” related with places that have been travelled by people. The music robot DIO acts as a bridge between locals and explorers. Also our method will attract users and present them alternative routes different than popular areas.

Basically DIO is the answer to these questions.
What makes the experience more valuable during travel?
hich music genres belongs to the region and what is the relation between?
Can we include locals into explorer’s travel process?

The last but not least, understanding the land through music, learning experiences from previous explorers and including locals for territorial recommendations would develop the interaction between explorer and city to make the discovery process more meaningful.

Key objectives for inclusion

The musicrobot DIO has an interactive map of the region that is planned to travel. When the explorer arrives to a new city, they reach the application/service which will show them the exploration and interaction points.

Process starts with the discovery map which has avarage of 5/10 locations per route which will be defined as interaction points. These point decisions will be defined by connection with the territorial music and related with regionly valuable places. The map has referance points and directions with storytelling. In the interactive map, these stations will be the main objectives to start to a music hunt and indigenous journey.

When they arrived to the station, they will interact with the music robot DIO by using GPS verification and augmented reality based interface. Following that when the explorers interacts with storyteller musicrobot in the station, they will be able to reach to music list which is connected to the region and location.

In additon to map, there will be 2 options which is previous explorers and locals inside the designed system.  In previous explorers option, users will be able to access past experiences that other explorers left, memories, thoughts, hints and suggestions through their experiences in the region. On the other hand, local option will provide locations on the map to present explorers more native journey about the story of places and music identity of culture.

Storyteller music robot DIO will be able to collect all these experiences, recommendations and locations from the locals and previous explorers. It will act like a bridge that would create opportunities to learn about the other’s domain of knowledge and make more sense to the region discovery. Beyond the creating cultural interactions between explorers & local citizens, it is also an opportunity to sharing & saving memories. It also provides opportunities for mutual learning between locals and explorers.

Innovative character

DIO is mainly focused on music, exploration and interaction between the people combining with cultural identity of the places.
While achieving this, the system will be based on digital product design principles. Hence there will be minimum amount of physical materials to support sustainability.

Moreover, DIO aims to take advantage of participatory approach with local’s and explorer’s suggestions to improve the journey and the integration of ethnographic information by creating alternative exploring experience.

Unlike similar recommendation methods used by other travelling and music platforms, DIO is focused on bringing unique experiences and perspectives to the travellers(explorers). Also integrating different peoples and the locals from all around the world into a digital product design/service while ensuring their participation to learn about the culture of the places that have been travelled and shape the project and its outcomes.
