Mining and quarrying are very destructive industries to the environment. They have a direct impact on the countryside by leaving tons of waste material, which are not used. In fact, in 2020 we are reaching a primary raw material shortage, many slate quarries have been closed in Europe. Modulovita is a response to exceptional events and was developed to deal with emergency situations. It is an adaptable and anti-seismic system, suitable for multiple applications, such as health care facilities, temporary schools, post-earthquake housing modules, peacekeeping. It allows customizable configurations on specific needs. It can be installed promptly and is also suitable in difficult contexts or with an unfavorable climate.

In times in which levels of pollution are constantly rising, we are forced to think about our future and the future of following generations. Sustainability has become an indispensable core of any project rather than just an option. We have to undertake actions for our planet to last as long as it can. This project aims to demonstrate how little effort is needed to bring about a radical change in the quality of our built environment.

From 1950s to70s, Faro became the hotbed of Portuguese Modern Architecture movement led by Manuel Gomes da Costa following Oscar Niemeyer or Le Corbusier. The city counts 500 buildings of that time, including The Modernist Hotel. But this cultural collection is still unrevealed to Faro inhabitants. So many buildings are just abandoned. After 4 years of renovation in pure respect of its DNA, our aim is to create a new love story between Faro and its architecture with social and cultural actions !

OIKONET was a project funded by the Lifelong Learning Programme 2013-16. Its goal was to foster the exchange of knowledge, methodologies and good practices among higher education institutions, research groups, community organizations and professional associations which are concerned with contemporary dwelling on a global scale. OIKONET was structured in three intertwined areas:research on housing studies, participatory actions and pedagogical activities.

After 700 years of diverse history CM is cared for by BHOe. Workshops for traditional crafts were established, offering VET for built CH. CM is utilised sensitively and professionals trained hands-on. Low-level intervention and circular principle in terms of resources and utilisation make CM unique. The European Heritage Academy (EHA) and a EUComp-Centre for CH and CCIs make Mauerbach a multilevel VET Skills & Maintenance Centre Point, Creative Hub and Community Centre.

Imperial Palace Vienna (IPV) was residence of Austrian sovereigns for 700 years. In republican Austria IPV became residency for president and government. The largest coherent secular building complex in EU carries EHL and hosts 16 museums, 61 collections, national library, Lipizzaner horses and butterflies. Business and service organisations thrive here, while in 2019 about 25 million visitors came to see. IPV literally moved from Emperor‘s palace to versatile usage – a City in the City.

The Garden of Tropical Agronomy is the largest space of the Eastern wood of Paris. While it is a witness to the French colonial past, today the garden hosts a campus which is specialized in global South-oriented sustainable development. This virtuous evolution brings the idea of an interface between the general public and the site's experts. Using the abandoned pavilions, the rehabilitation project aims to reflect the campus’ values in order to share both historical and contemporary knowkedge.

Hai floor lamp

Hǎi means 'sea' in Chinese pinyin, it is 'a sunshine ray in the middle of the sea'.

The base of the Hǎi floor lamp is made in recycled plastic material which give the idea of the sea by recreating the texture of the Italian traditional 'veneziana' flooring made in marble chunks, while today in recycled plastic.

The light structure is in iron tube, reused material, and it is colored in bright yellow.

Reform Standard is a machine-learning-driven searching program that designs new structures generated from existing non-standard materials to achieve complete circular economy. Using reinforcement learning, machine vision and automated searching process, the project aims to promote a material-informed design circle and converts wastes and non-standard materials into potential design and fabrication resources.
