NEB Prizes 2022: All Applications

OSFD is a transdisciplinary multimodal experiential learning platform which combines topics around food, creativity and sustainability (social, environmental or economic), to break the barriers of our current means of education. Our courses are available to all, in the most remote locations. Our goal is to empower a talented cohort of enthusiasts dedicated to improving our food systems. We successfully released 4 online courses since Summer '21 through our international network of collaborators.

The campus of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna was extended by a timber construction with 3000m² of usable floor area. The open entrance level and the public terrace create a communicative interface for students and faculty members from surrounding buildings. In addition to the atmospheric qualities of the wood surfaces, the high proportion of daylight contributes to a pleasant learning and working environment. The support structure becomes a design element.

International student workshops of costume design, fashion and textile design and art criticism / essays.

We try to understand “life” in cities by observing its infrastructure and development but also by analyzing the day-to-day activities of its inhabitants and the details that make up their identity.

“The city and water” links jewelry with literature through the creation of five broochs based on five stories of my own authorship, inspired by the prose style of Calvino's book, The invisible cities. This series is an expression of my City´s (València) relationship with water.

Dantz comprehends the importance of our natural environment. Focusing on that, Dantz created a project called Dantz Point Zumaia – Bihotza. This project was located in one of the most breath-taking landscapes of the Basque Country, as Zumaia’s Flysch.

It was a festival which took into account the options that our surroundings provide us and used them to produce a music festival, broadcasted online. We guarantee that the Basque Country’s heritages are visualized in an electronic music festival. 

The structure is re-used.

The interior is occupied or vacated by removable parts.

The resulting architecture, more than geometric, is algebraic.

The existing structure, conserved for environmental reasons, remains as a matrix onto which specific elements are added. These are arranged using an algebraic arrangement as in a musical score, punctuating but not dividing the space. Through its design the whole project achieves maximum sustainability and attention.

In Cagliari, Sardinia, the fishing village of Giorgino has been living for 50 years in a situation of isolation and social exclusion, without essential services and with limited access to the social, political and cultural city life. "NONTOURISM/GIORGINO - Unpublished detours told by the inhabitants" is a project created to counter the marginalization, acting on the empowerment of the inhabitants in terms of self-awareness and self-narration. Openbike is a manifesto on sustainable urbanism, urban transport, distributed manufacturing, shared knowledge, the community and the responsible use of resources, that materializes in the design of a non-polluting urban transport, the bicycle, that can be manufactured by its own user within the city where it is going to be used, downloading the fabrication files and using fabrication methods available at a local fablab, such as 3d printing and CNC milling.

BabylonGardens has developed and patented a technology based on the reuse of plastic bottles of different types without discarding any part, for an extremely economical, easy-to-build way to turn massive quantities of plastic bottles into Green Walls, allowing the greening of cities by covering walls on public and private buildings with planted surfaces.
