The decision of the municipality of Kressbronn on Lake Constance to preserve the historic building instead of selling it on the open real estate market turns out to be worthwhile for the community in the end. The guiding ideas for its design were to treat the architectural heritage with consideration and respect and to preserve the character of the old barn in the center of Kressbronn while transforming it – with just a few, well-considered interventions – into a modern, accessible building.

FABER is a privately developed endeavour designed to inspire social and cultural wellbeing - one which connects local, regional and international stakeholders and actions, and that is focused on the power of creativity, innovation and the sustainable development of local communities.

FABER offers meeting and event spaces, contemporary workspaces, a prototyping&small production workshop, and a bistro - all in a refurbished building that is part of the local industrial legacy of Timișoara.

CYCLE - circular household cleaning products made from municipal sewage sludge through hydrolysis where acetic acid (main active ingredient) is recovered together with water. These recovered substances make 90% of our cleaning products. The rest is natural citric acid, natural surfactant and recycled PET bottle. All our products are waste derived, circular, easily biodegradable. Safe to use it around pets and kids, no harmful chemicals used.

Renovation and extension of a 3 bedroom loft located on the top levels of an early 20th century industrial building.

De Hoorn, officially recognized as a heritage monument, is the place where in 1926 the first Stella Artois was brewed. Abandoned for 20 years, it was brought to life again by a group of local people and transformed into a 12.000 m² creative hotspot and public hub. It has become an omni-use complex with 500 workspaces, a bar and restaurant, event and meeting facilities and a short-term co-housing residency. 

It contributed to developing a creative community with cross-fertilization at its heart.

Just let your body do the talking!

bilding is an open space where young people from 4 to 19 years explore their own creativity, the fine arts, architecture and media, free of charge. It is an experimental space designed and constructed for young people by young students of architecture, a place for change, which sees education as “a work in progress”, where active participation, space, content and actions work together, encouraging everyone to follow their individual creativity as an important part of personal development.

TWIN project has the ambition to define a replicable territorial model for the benefit of marginal and fragile territories crossed by slow&long lines, combining slow tourism with social inclusion and regeneration of unused buildings and forgotten areas. TWIN is an initiative of a research group based at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies at Politecnico di Milano and is a winning project of the Call Polisocial Award 2019, the social responsibility program of this university.

The ruinous site of a derelict industrial site tied to the history of iron processing in the Fichtelgebirge has been revived and reinterpreted. With the construction of a community center, it was possible to create a meeting place for all the local citizens and those living beyond, while at the same time keeping alive the memories of the economic history of the region.

Below our feet - among insects and the sewer - is the world of the Grubbers. These fantasy creatures are the size of your finger, curious and ensure a healthy soil. Nobody has ever seen them, as they cannot stand daylight. But if you do... They have an elongated nose for digging and smelling danger. 

This story serves as footprint for climate-proof neighbourhoods driven by the hope and determination of children.
