Sweden’s first and foremost art museum have reclaimed its architectural qualities that had been hidden for almost a century. This was possible by numerous innovative technical and architectural solutions that also introduced new features to the 19th century building.
Our population is aging. This unprecedented social challenge is also creating new requirements for products and services. However, many new products and services are currently being developed without taking into account the needs of the target group. This leads to low user acceptance or even rejection of well-conceived ideas. In order to solve this problem, the AgeTech Bootcamp and Living Lab integrates new technologies, Startups and participatory design including senior citizens.
UroborosUroboros is a festival and a community network for collective explorations of the potential of creative practice to support sustainable societal transitions. Uroboros contributors engage in a multitude of co-creative events to reflect on eco-social issues, imagine desirable futures, and prototype sustainable alternatives. The Uroboros aims to help build participants' capacities to better understand eco-social challenges and empower them to become active agents of positive change.
jCharge is a universal charging station for mobile devices and small electromobility for public spaces, tailored to different types of devices, which optimizes and reduces the cost of charging these devices by suppliers.
A civil initiative started Bellevue di Monaco in 2014. It is a meeting place and cultural centre for all, with accommodation, training and counselling for refugees; retrofitting replaced plans for demolition and saved grey energy. Reuse of material and co-created new furniture highlight 1950ies heritage. A ground-floor café is open to all (since 2018), a sports field on top of the building serves the neighbourhood (since 2020). The social cooperative runs the project together with volunteers.
SOUCI offers another way of preserving and shaping cut flowers,inviting its audience to compose, observe and consume plants otherwise:It uses plants aesthetic to speak about ecology.I extracted a scientific process from In Vitro culture and adapted the seaweed recipe for floral art.The idea is to move the aesthetic and quantitative expectations that we have of nature by highlighting the tiniest stem, reduce waste,and by encouraging the use of common and local plant.It had been developed at ENSCI
The Buzzbench is a monumental habitat for wild bees and at the same time a sculptural parkbench that offers humans an educational opportunity or a quiet retreat to experience an increased sense of perception.
We tend to keep our distance from insects because we are afraid to get stung. But actually, the chances you get attacked by solitairy bees are nil. They are even better pollinators than honeybees and if we dare to take a closer look, they are amazingly beautiful!
The IBA-Plant is a future-themed, temporary installation that conveys ideas about the future development of our planet and transports those to the people. It is an aesthetic art project whose circular mode of action stimulates sustainable processes and reaches all its visitors inclusively. The implantation of an “IBA-Plant” leads to intellectual and intuitive discussions about our future life and could solve future problems globally on different scales.
“Experimentation is a leap into the unknown. The Collège Stalingrad has been the bungee cord” (Travaux d'école, 2020). The Collège Stalingrad in Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, located in a priority education area, is in need of renovations. A more cross-disciplinary vision has been proposed: a participatory design approach in collaboration with the École supérieure d'art et de design TALM-Tours. For one year, the designer Agathe Chiron led a consultation with all the users and renovated the spaces.
The central place was completely repaired. It has not been renovated for more than 40 years - the tiles and benches were broken, there was no lighting. With the implementation of the project, the following things were made - a new flooring of high-pressed blocks and curbs, benches with pergolas, as well as waste bins, a children's playground with swings and two large combined children's facilities. An electrical network has been completely built. So now there is a place for relaxing.
