NEB Prizes 2021: All Applications

The wind is rising! Is an independent magazine focused on climate crisis’ creative responses, a series of strong opinions and concrete advice on what you can do. It is the need to give voice to the man’s felling of uncertainty and bewilderment. It is a community for those interested in sustainability issues and for those who want to share their experience. It displays artists, writers and thinkers interested in “green culture”, climate change, sustainable economies, environmental outcomes.

Do you know what happens in Milano when it rains? 
The Seveso river, coming from underground, overflows.
I know, that doesn’t sound good, but… what if it did? 
The Virtual River is the place where the city meets the river.
It is an open canal, above the underground river, that draws a linear park both for the water and the people.
It’s raining: take your raincoat and come and see the temporary stream flowing through our city! 
It’s sunny: take your bike and go with the (virtual) flow!

This publication has its roots in the Capital of Culture Matera Basilicata 2019 (Italy) and Vienna (Austria). An internship at the Open Design School resulted in a bilingual book that gives new shape to both the visual and auditory force of intercultural dialogue. Language art, everyday language (Italian and German), design and cultural practices not only translate one language into the other in this volume, but also practice a new expression of plural authorship.

Brave New World aims to give a voice to the unheard members of the fashion system. On our co-creation platform, participants can design garments together and choose which sustainable materials will be used.

Brave New World speaks to all that are passionate about fashion and sustainability, as it has two design modes: an expert mode for advanced fashion designers and a story mode where novelty users can design in a virtual 3D workspace.

The project ‘Recreating Identity’ faces the topic of urban regeneration in North Lambrate, a district in the east of Milan, Italy. It deals with enhancing the public spaces and social activities, through reinforcing the urban structure to give a new life and vibe to the neighborhood and its citizens. The project’s focal point is to recreate a new sense of identity, based on collecting various existing characteristics of Lambrate.

We have the pleasure to present an example of the implementation, which CLOSES to the environment’s demotion but OPENS to its protection and to the GREEN ORDERLINESS.Within the urban, developed area, in the heart of and old Warsaw district, we designed a house situated in the surrounding of buildings from the 60’s. Construction according to the design by Przemek Lisiecki OPENS the new chapter on the historical map of the SADYBA district, concentrating on better life in the beautiful area.

The house is in a very narrow and long property, with a built-up area of elevation ± 0.00 - only 81.00 m2. In the concrete core of the structure (reinforced concrete slabs) is envisaged to incorporate a system for heating and cooling. The principle of tempering the concrete core is based on the use of the storage mass of construction parts. Tempering of the concrete core helps the accumulation characteristic of the massive building parts by pipes that run on cooling or heating water.

Openbike is a manifesto on sustainable urbanism, urban transport, distributed manufacturing, shared knowledge, the community and the responsible use of resources, that materializes in the design of a non-polluting urban transport, the bicycle, that can be manufactured by its own user within the city where it is going to be used.
