NEB Prizes 2023: All Applications

The metropolitan park learning programme Aprenem a la Xarxa aims to foster links between the public and their parks, raising awareness of socio-environmental values and creating spaces for participation and experiential learning.
The parks are a perfect laboratory to grow through experiences and learn through interaction with the environment while improving it, with actions promoted by networking. This is a programme for discovering and experiencing the values of the metropolitan parks.

To generate critical and new insights into our value system in human-centred societal challenges the experimental approach of Research through Design (RtD) and the power of critical disability studies explores philosophical and strategic possibilities to identifying how design helps to improve the experience of being human, and not
necessarily the user experience of a disabled person in prosthesis design development

’Sounding the Underworld’ engages with the invertebrates and microorganisms that inhabit the world under our feet, a world that we take for granted, abuse and generally know very little about.
Interweaving an installation, citizen science workshops focused on local soils and a pilot study, the project will make audible the creatures that metabolize leaves, wood, grass and other carbon sources to create a healthy soil matrix, and forges a path towards understanding soil health.

Change Clothes Crumlin is a new, creative clothing reuse hub in Dublin, Ireland. We're creating a social community space for swapping, upcycling, mending, borrowing, learning, and meeting like-minded people. Everyone is welcome to take part in our events.

Our work in Crumlin includes:
- Running clothing swap shops
- Holding creative clothing upcycling and mending workshops
- Building a borrowing solution
- Creating accessible social space for learning more

The approach is to use the natural world of Aegina as an innately fascinating context within which to learn out their ideas and theories and use what they already know to deepen their understanding and further their learning.

Project design connects outdoor education with Dalton in an innovative way. The project creates opportunities for learning with different learning capabilities ( eg. health, mental conditions, language knowledge- Ukrainian refugees). The project let us to gain positive emotional experiences connected with communing with nature.

The aim of the project is to shift the construction industry from using traditional materials to green materials such as aluminium alloys where it is possible. The main problem, addressed from the side of experts in the field of the construction industry, is a lack of knowledge. Advantages: infinitely recyclable which needs very little energy to recycle, completely neutral in their effect on air, soil, and water quality, the tensile strength of steel, and 70% lighter than a steel structure.
