NUAGE is an experimental bench prototyped on public space topped with a cloud shape rendering a sensible representation of urban environmental data to citizens. It informs citizens about air quality and levels of pollination in the neighbourhood with color references visible from many viewpoints and easily understandable.
To prove that Miera Street in Riga can be a space for both mobility and social life, Fine Young Urbanists built a 14m-long street prototype on a scale 1:1 featuring wider sidewalks, bicycle lanes, street furniture and potted plants. The mock-up was built in three days and remained in place for a week. The two urbanists used this time to discuss street design with passers-by, local residents and small business owners, discovering an effective method of involving the public in the design process.
The hyper-local rooms are two evolving, participative and interconnected installations: one nomad in France, and the other, site-specific, in Japan. Hybridizations between French and Japanese architectural traditions, they respect the milieux in which they are set up. In a necessary reflection on our living conditions and interaction with the world, they are meant to offer an ideal of frugality as well as a reconsideration of the remoteness imposed by the pandemic, in a translocal approach.
The 1st Green Roofs Competition of Barcelona City Council has promoted the execution of 10 green roofs in 10 private buildings distributed throughout the city. Green roofs improve the energy efficiency of the buildings, increase their value and create new spaces for the community. Moreover, green roofs bring important environmental benefits to the city, by increasing its resilience to climate change.
At a high point at Medicinareberget in Gothenburg, sits Sweden’s first wooden dome housing a cooling district which serves the surrounding labaratories. It is a co2 neutral building entirely constructed in wood with glulam arches and the façade is covered with wooden flakes treated with linseed oil, turpentine and tar, making it resemble a pinecone. The building is surrounded by steps in different levels, making it inviting for the public to come up close and engage with the architecture.
BASIS Vinschgau Venosta is a Social Activation Hub, initiated as a community project of regeneration of the former military areal and barracks Caserma Druso in South Tyrol. BASIS Vinschgau Venosta offers spaces, community events, network facilitation, and educational formats to enable the exchange of experiences, shared learning, and practical ways of doing. In this way BASIS Vinschgau Venosta facilitates the goal of all people involved to experiment in the activation and building of new ideas.

A visit to a cultural heritage site can be a way to experience history through all of our senses. Through fragments and stories we can imagine lives and places long forgotten – we can feel the tide of history. This is not the case for everyone, some people need a helping hand.
The project “First Encounters” tells the stories of species that meet for the very first time, due to climate-change induced range shifts. The installation visualises possible consequences that travel through local ecologies to various human-made systems, to manifest as real every-day challenges for us humans to overcome. Transforming empirical data into emotional realities the project shows that we are just one species amongst many, fostering visions of a multi-species society.
