Immersed in a new forest of 10,000 trees of native species, a rural building, restored with eco-sustainable criteria, hosts activities for the protection, research and enhancement of cultural heritage. Where before there was a farm, today we find space for artists, architects, students, start-ups, courses on eco-sustainability, archives, stable transformed into a library, forest therapy, organic vegetable garden, ancient fruits, herbarium. A great bazaar of the quality of living and planning.

The project “Rethinking urban design in the digital era”, takes into consideration the theoretical framework regarding new technologies and their impact in everyday life. The main goal is to create a holistic design framework that guarantees the successful combination of all aspects of everyday life, in order to produce an informative, useful, and symbolically rich outcome. It aims at empowering people through bridging the digital gap, allowing them to become “makers” of the collective spaces.

Maakplaats 021 is a program and a network of public makerspaces, in various branches of the Amsterdam Public Library. Young people learn to design, create, discover and experiment. The number 021 symbolizes 21st century skills. The activities focus on digital fabrication and city making: together we discover Amsterdam and devise smart solutions for the city. The library thus becomes a place where everyone has the opportunity to develop the skills that are appropriate for our time.

The Neighbourhood Home is a system of new structures for redevelopment sites within the districts, targeting in particular the suburbs with a tense coexistence of old and new inhabitants. The network aim to foster mutual inclusion to make everyone feel 'at home'.
Each Home will promote activities related to a cultural area (Home of Food, Languages, Clothing, etc.) and will encourage to share traditions and to rediscover that the roots of all people and cultures have always been interconnected.

The villa Noailles opened as an art centre in Hyères in 2003. It is still the only art centre in France whose cultural programming is built around architecture, fashion, photography and design. Since its opening it has hosted the International festival of fashion, photography and fashion accessories. In 2005 the villa Noailles created the Design Parade, which aims at supporting young designers and in 2015 Design Parade Toulon devoted to interior design and located in the nearby city.

Towns and villages across Ireland have been integral to Irish economic and cultural life for centuries. They can also be great places to live and work for modern lifestyles. To support those involved in Irish towns and villages, the RIAI has produced a free online resource, ‘Creating Places for People - The RIAI Town and Village Toolkit’. It provides practical advice, references and successful case studies of places that have overcome challenges with architectural and urban design expertise.

The VorOrt-Haus is an example of the recovery of public space as a place of participation and encounter.By taking over an old property, actors of all ages and backgrounds try their ideas directly and experience self-efficacy.The VorOrt principle was from the beginning the benefit of existing resources in the sense of recycling and do-it-yourself, of making instead of only talking. Bottom-up, low threshold and very visible and attractive – caused by a high standard of communication and design.

YAK AROUND aims to connect Spazio Yak (a community driven theatre) with the Bustecche neighbourhood, contaminating and regenerating public spaces and community life thanks to artistic performances. The theater becomes a “permeable” place open to people's daily lives needs, while occupaying courtyards of public housing with performaces, transforming the neighborhood into the tableau for urban games, sharing ideas for new services. All this helps to generate an inclusive multi-cultural community.

Precious Kitchen is an online portal that references the resources available on the territory. These materials, wastes, coming from industrial and artisanal production flows, can be valorized and have a creative second life. Precious Kitchen provides educational resources for the discovery of material design, to test the creation of reused materials. Conferences, workshops, installations and exhibitions also animate the life of the project.
