SUMus = We are (Latin). The community wants to replace individualism with the collective, "to have" with "to be". Each individual will become aware of his uniqueness and potential, free to express his talents to achieve personal fulfilment and offer them to the world in a collective perspective, all together we will become aware of the nature-human-universe link by promoting consciousness enlightened by knowledge for a sustainable, respectful, socially equitable and economically viable future.

Natural disasters cause traumas, thus social breakdown. Living in post-emergency settlements is an opportunity for community recovery. This potential is identified in open space, a constant element regardless of the adopted housing systems and catastrophe. Open space guidelines for temporary settlements are proposed as resilient tools for sociality. The further development foresees to translate the guidelines in spatial parameters to be used in widespread BIM planning software.

If the world was created in 7 days, a sustainable future for a town or locality may start in 3 days of nonconform ideenwerkstatt. This participatory process brings together all community sections with politicians, administrators, businesses and other stakeholders, to identify problems, sustainable solutions and setting in motion their assisted thorough implementation. With 150 events in 15 years in over 130 places, nonconform has refined a flexible, powerfully creative instrument for change.

In the heart of one of Europe’s oldest cities Plovdiv you will discover a rather unconventional exhibition space for high end furniture and design. The establishment of Essenza begins with an ambitious project to renovate an abandoned architectural heritage, building and to open its doors to a diverse community, whose members include design  aficionados,  artists, performers, and anyone with an appreciation of art, design, sustainability and culture.

The annual “Silicon Vilstal Experience Festival” is a major social innovation event in rural Europe. It provides a unique mix of heritage, arts, culture and innovation, enables creators of all kinds and serves as a launchpad for ideas and projects. It is possible thanks to the joint efforts of many creatives, designers, architects, volunteers and a broad societal network of local companies, municipalities, government institutions, foundations, civic organisations and museums.

Compact, functional, minimalistic closet-table, which can be easily transformed into the need. “Cabinet-desk” - assembled furniture created in such a manner that it could be easily stored and transported. That is what we need lately these days.

The aim of this project is geared towards the local residents of Madeira Island, in Portugal, paying attention to their needs and considering the bucolic environment and lack of public resources, in order to ensure basic services to the citizens. With the support of local political movements, it is proposed the insertion of forty two containers to attend two local necessities: a dance school, which used to operate in adjacent spaces to the neighboring church, and three emergency social housings.

Designers, architects and urbanists are dedicated to researching, conserving and activating energy stored in various materials—the so-called »Grey Energy«. This resource is considered crucial for sustainable economies and construction, but it is non-renewable. That is why we are initiating a radical change in the way we have dealt with it so far. We are looking for potential energy—and finding it in the many ample and unused existing buildings and brownfield sites in rural regions.
