One learns to recognize birds by their sounds, gets used to being greeted by butterflies, enjoy homemade jam for breakfast, and discover the names of different bugs with the children. All of this, leaving plenty of time to enjoy pruning, harvesting, and just hanging out with neighbors. This is Rijnvliet; a neighborhood with over 120 cultivars making up a lively forest with a healthy and divers population of creatures – a colorful ecosystem that is enjoyable as much as it is enlightening. 

Superwood is a new material that consists only of residual materials. It is made from recycled wood fibers mixed with casein and pressed into boards. We dispense with formaldehyde, a toxic glue used in 95% of all MDF boards. We obtain our binder from residues of the dairy industry. In this way, we combine two waste materials available in large quantities to create a new circular material. This not only makes our domestic space healthier, but also conserves natural resources such as our forests.

Paraloup is a place ‘sheltered from wolves’ up in the western Italian Alps.

Ohmie, the orange lamp, is born to make the world a better place to live in. A new design revolution has been activated, and it all starts with orange peels. Designed by the creative team of Krill Design, Ohmie, the first lamp in the world totally composed of orange peels, is a symbol of a possibility that becomes reality. Together, we’ve been changing radically the way furniture, products, and objects are designed, produced, and consumed. Sustainable is no more an adjective, but the norm.

Beteve’s modular vertical garden is a pilot test on a system for greening party walls in urban spaces by creating self-sufficient plant façades.

A steel structure is designed to be completely covered with lines of flower boxes containing species of plants, thereby creating a new green façade.

The system is replicable, industrialised, adaptable to several geometries, self-sufficient in water and energy resources and low maintenance.

jCharge is a universal electromobility charging station. The first solar station has been installed in Rzeszów. Authorial technology manages the electricity from solar energy, which positively affects the ecological image of the city. The station collects all non-sensitive data on the devices it charges, and thanks to the management panel we can see the current energy consumption and data on the location of the scooters. jCharge builds order in the city and makes micromobility 100% ecological.

The Résidence du Parc is a district of 118 houses built in the 1920’s for coal miners’ families. Although it is inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List, many of its inhabitants suffer from social exclusion. The social housing company that now owns the houses led an integrated action on the neighbourhood. It launched an ambitious thermal renovation of the dwellings and, rather than focusing on the technical intervention, built social and artistic projects with tenants and partners.

The TREE CLASSROOM is an open access circular space made by trees, a place for outdoor environmental education, a Land Art work, a green infrastructure, a climate action, a Nature-Based Solution for Climate Change adaptation and mitigation.
The TREE CLASSROOM is an alternative to the traditional idea of Urban Forestry that has been noted to lack social, economic, engineering and the artistic aspects. TC consider these elements and go beyond the Human-Environment and Nature-Culture relation.

SÃO VICENTE CÁ FORA was an experimental short-term initiative developed in the historic centre of Lisbon under SUSHI project (EITCKIC).

SÃO VICENTE CÁ FORA explored the linkage between art-sustainability-creativity-innovation, as a path to engage local communities and to transform public spaces. The initiative brought together temporary artistic activities, workshops and talks about climate resilience, circular economy, and social inclusivity.
