The Zero Waste House project is rooted in circular economy, community and ecology. These concepts inform the architecture of the buildings and the use of urban spaces. The ZW House is a project of renovation and adaptation to climate change. It explores the notion of commons by including the community. Form follows function, is a common thread weaving through the design principles of the ZW House. It merges the heritage of the space with innovative, modern and accessible building practices.
A disused brownfield site, centrally located in the historic city of Karlovac, is envisioned as an urban-natural place of new productivity. The site is transformed into a vibrant mixed-use neighborhood that functions as a self-sustainable system producing energy, food, knowledge – and new levels of urbanity for the surrounding areas. The existing, forest-like environment found on parts of the site is preserved and enhanced so the neighborhood also doubles as a calming, green oasis in the city.
Transformation Haus und Feld is a campaign for a transformation center where the knowledge and skills that we need for the socio-ecological transformation are given a home.

And it can provide a model for all European cities on how to create a home for the jobs of the future.
In Sweden, the average person buys 12 kg textiles/person/year and throws away 8kg. Only 0.02% of textiles are being re-used. A shift in how we produce, build and consumed is called for. Searching for an architecture of alternatives, an architecture of degrowth, I propose a different factory typology, with a circular textile production chain, where the raw material comes from public donation of textiles rather than the extraction of natural resources, celebrating ‘trash’ as a resource.

This proposal offers a solution to the issue of mobility through hacking an already existing local system: A large part of Malta's blue infrastructure is an extensive network of stormwater runoff systems which divert rainfall out to sea. With an average 3055 hours of sunshine annually, the infrastructure comprising this network is largely idle for a good proportion of the year. What if such runoff networks meanders people from the centre to the coastal territories and retain that precious water?
