The project establishes a structural strategy based on load-bearing walls in order to integrate the building between the traditional architectures of the historic center.
The structure fixes the spatial conditions of the project, generating an interior space based on sequences of rooms and defining the shape of the facade.
The project proposes the dignification of the wall in the square "Plaça de les Dones del 36", integrating it into the neighbourhood and improving its thermal conditions. This strengthened the sense of identity and historical memory with the incorporation of a work of art. The biodiversity of the surroundings was boosted too, with a vertical garden which was also used to install solar panelling to provide power. Housing here also gained in livability, with the opening of new windows.

With Europe facing a housing crisis, set against a climate emergency, BUILD SCHOOL set out to empower people with the skills, knowledge and community needed to take on sustainable building projects.
Designed to demystify the basics and hands-on workshops putting new skills to instant use, the courses doubled people’s confidence to take on their own projects and went on to spur the development of a new social enterprise.
The play and movement space concept in Schermbeck shows perspectives for an attractive, networked and thus sustainable spatial framework. Citizens should be attracted to the outdoors and leave their cars behind. Children get to know their everyday routes in a new way through the newly created play and exercise areas.
The idea was designed from an inclusive perspective, to improve the quality of life of people in the neighborhood. The project tries to reconnect the different levels of the place, building a floor with a continuous paving of anti-slipping stone as an adaptation of the traditional paving system. The connections with the streets are solved with soft ramps and with stairs of small height, to facilitate the daily displacements of the elderly people.
While Bauhaus at the time of the first industrial revolution was the movement that allowed all social classes to make a leap forward with new possibilities in technology, materials and design, New Bauhaus does that again. But now by considering the limits of unbridled growth.

TEST SITE is a collaborative, urban research project based on Kyrl’s Quay, Cork City, Ireland. Co-created by architect Ailbhe Cunningham + artist Aoife Desmond, the project works at the intersection of art, architecture and ecology. Engaging with natural and built heritage, the project uses site-specific architectural interventions, film/performance work, discursive talks and live events to regain a local sense of place - to respond to and reactivate a vacant ‘island’ site on Kyrl’s Quay.

We present to the award one of the interventions of the programme carried out during 2021, the Lavinia school located in Les Corts district.
The beaches in and around Barcelona are part of a densely populated area under heavy pressure due to its high logistic, urban and touristic value. Most coastal ecosystems have disappeared. This project aims to protect and regenerate beach-dunes through a series of actions encouraging public participation, thus raising awareness about the environmental importance of dunes. It is also attached to improving infrastructure and access to the beaches, so all can keep enjoying these valuable natural sites.
More and more often, rising average temperatures are leading to urban overheating during the summer. For the future of cities like Graz, measures designed to adapt to climate change play a crucial role. The Climate Culture Pavilion Graz 2020 is an installation in public space that showcases future models of urban cooling in hot summers.
Over the space of six months, the pavilion allows visitors to experience ideas and visions for cooling architectures and climate-resilient outdoor spaces.
