The project aims to use intangible forms of heritage, specifically augmented reality (AR) soundscapes and narratives, to reconstruct lost spaces of Aleppo and overlay them onto new contemporary contexts. We must no longer look at heritage and preservation as retrospective activities but rather as prospective ones. It reinterprets the traditional Arabic story-telling structure, Hakawati, by transforming it into a spatial structure that brings to light counter-narratives and puts them in dialogue.

Domaine de Boisbuchet

Founded in 1986, Domaine de Boisbuchet is an international research center for design, art and architecture. The campus is surrounded by 150 hectares of protected nature in southwest France and comprises an architectural park of historic and contemporary buildings. Boisbuchet's workshops, exhibitions, residencies and events as well as an outstanding design collection and library serve professional guests and visitors from the neighboring and global community alike.

With nonconform, a participatory planning and design practice, the town of Trofaiach fought this with an inclusive method of dialogue and co-creation. Now most abandoned buildings are back in use, streets attract visitors of all ages, on public transport and leaving cars behind. The centre lives again.

Lanxmeer functions as a building bloc example for a sustainable city. Developed out of a private initiative, it takes the concepts of the city-landscape as inspiration and brings them into reality. The project gives attention to both technical and social sustainability by dealing with flows of water, energy, food, materials, traffic and biodiversity, the values of nature and landscape,social cohesion and above all the importance of the direct and continuous involvement of the ínhabitants.

Oasi is the renaturalization of an strongly transformed area by a latent industrial past that allows the encounter with the river and restores its identity to a place that had lost its relationship with the river ecosystem. The project is materialized in the form of a floodable park with native species of the Mediterranean riparian forest, acting as a protection for the adjacent urban fabric and as a strategic ecotone with natural values.

Cultural Oasis is an open-air school, in which the lessons would be able to be transferred from the inside of the building to an open, green space, changing the perspective of education from an obligation to a pleasant activity and reconnecting younger generations with nature. A layer is created under which all the functions of the school are housed while on top of it a new park is created. This park constitutes a part of the urban tissue and at the same time a green lung for the area.
