NEB Prizes 2023: All Applications

Kafkárna is an experimental interdisciplinary platform, a laboratory for artistic research and education in Prague. The programme is oriented towards art in connection with ecological topics, and it hosts symposia, workshops, courses, exhibitions and lecture series, among others. All events take place in the premises of a hundred-year-old sculpture studio with a large magical garden. Professionals and artists as well as the public are involved, with a strong emphasis on various communities.

The INSECT Summercamp 2022 is the pilot project for an annual gathering of practitioners, students, and researchers to investigate the transition from human-centered design to life-centered design and lifestyles. In 2022 we designed and manufactured a facade installation to explore "designing-for" insects and other organisms in an urban setting, and investigated embodied and co-creative ways to "being-with" them in the countryside.

PROTOTÝPCI provides educational events for children, teachers and parents to develop entrepreneurship, creativity and digital competences. Encourages children to be creative and active in their communities and environments, to strengthen their entrepreneurial competences and to motivate them to become entrepreneurs in creative professions. Encourages teachers and parents to be able to foster children's creativity, based on the children's ideas, not on an adult's instructions.

Flourish! is a learning journey for young adults who are suffering from anxiety and grief because of the climate emergency. Flourish! offers a regenerative approach, and supports participants in building their inner resilience, as well as the resilience of their communities and ecosystems to the climate and biodiversity crises. Its success rests on fostering a sense of belonging to a transnational learning, caring and doing community, engaged in a deep social and ecological transformation.

In Alsómocsolád "urbanization" has become a feature. Gardens and farm buildings became unused, while buying food from multi-firms. As a result of our programme, environmental and health-conscious behaviors are integrated and valued, recreating traditional village lifestyle at a higher level in response to challenges of the times. Only a "green", inclusive settlement can provide quality life attracting newcomers and can also be a solution to the demographic and economic problems of rural areas.

Ec(h)o is the convergence of past and future, here and there, us and them. The play on the words "eco", from the greek "Oikos" (home), and "echo", as sound, intends to communicate the sense that there are lessons to be drawn from those who came to the world before us. In "Ec(h)o", we want to understand Sustainability (environmental, social, and economic) in the eyes of an aging population. Because "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".

The "DND House" is an open, inclusive and safe place for children, their interaction, socialization, exchange of experience, development of talents, play and creativity. The result is a continuation of the development of the activities and programs that Zabok SOC has been implementing for 70 years. Although the initiative aims to build a physical meeting place; it has the potential to transform environment, create a sense of belonging and shape ambitions aimed at the future of the community.

MoMY is an innovative Academy born within the broader Museum of Modern Mythology project.
Its courses in Modern Mythology go hand in hand with different Universities and professional disciplines and have the common aim to facilitate 6 generations to get a deeper understanding of the cultural complex ecosystem they live and work in. MoMY has already activated its teaching at the Polytechnic of Milan-Dep. Interior Design and at the University of Turin-Dep Foreign Languages and Modern Literatures.

“La colmena”, a novel set in post-war Madrid, where the characters move like a human swarm where everyone believes that things happen just because they do and nothing has a remedy. In the current environmental crisis, our bees are disappearing, breaking the natural balance. One of the possible causes (with a clear anthropogenic component) is the "forgetfulness" of our social condition, of our "hive identity" due to hyper-individualism. We want to raise awareness of the importance of bees.

NO-GAP is a game/exhibition created with the goal of transmitting awareness-raising content about pathological gambling, through playful and interactive methods, with the final aim of prevention. It is based on the concept of "gamification": we use elements taken from the game's experience and applied them in non-gamified contexts to spread a message. The concept, already known in Europe, is not so widespread in Italy; that is making the NO-GAP exhibition an absolute novelty on the local scene.
