NEB Prizes 2022: All Applications

The idea develops three meta-projects for climate adaptation to counteract urban heat island and pluvial flooding in the district of Scandicci (Metropolitan City of Florence). The proposal involves two "urban transects" and a square, focused mainly on nature-based solutions to create green infrastructures. The effectiveness of the different scenarios was tested using digital predictive tools. The strategies adopted allow to increase livability of public space and social cohesion.

I will research and settle with architectonic instruments the encounter of Architecture and Nature in the symphony that constitute the very peculiarity of the seven forts inhabiting the Col de Tende, between France an Italy. I will start to build a narrative of such a cosmic encounter between the forms of Nature and the forms of Man, documenting these XVIII war-ruins: after 150 years, these manufacts are now in a proportioned consonance with Nature, expressing a transnational European spirit.

This concept introduces a design instrument – ​​a circular agriculture pattern language - which enables reconfiguration of the territory in a co – creative way. The tool can be used in design workshops to foster effective solution oriented dialogue between stakeholders. The results of the co-creation process can be used to create context-specific designs illustrating the spatial implications of a regenerative and circular agriculture. 

Format. is a brand of upcycled textiles, made from recycled materials to achieve a higher quality or utility.  

The brand was created in response to the number of donations and the difficulties of sorting. In this search for coherence within a disparate resource, curtains, rugs, plaids, and fabrics with freer uses were born. In this way, this waste regains a lost value and its place at the scale of both the body and the habitat.

Pilgrimage is the circular design of a 5-day trekking tour in the Alps, the design of 4 mountain shelters and a manifesto. The shelters are made from raw materials like stone, wood and lime, which are found on the place where the shelters are built. The aim of the tour is to reconnect hikers with nature, and make them aware of the nondestructive use of natural resources and the need for nature conservation. The tour ends with a manifesto to stop global warming, carved out in the wall of a dam.

Unknown Moving Objects are both environmental and design tools, proposing to reduce dune erosion and to show the evolution of forms in autonomy in nature. These objects are thought as a matrix stacking the sand and forming artificial-natural dunes. These objects are hybrids using environmental forces to make forms grow by themselves.
This projects aims to show how dunes are forming and growing by themselves. That’s why these objects are noticeable in the environment. Made from colorful weavings

R-force is the new innovative board game that uses trivia, movement and technology to educate, stimulate and activate children and others on environmental issues. The game creates a physical community but also a virtual one thanks to the website where people can stay updated and exchange ideas and projects. They can find the files to self-design the game, learning in this way the art of reuse and also developing their manual skills and creativity.

 

For people with a mental disability, a museum visit can be overwhelming and chaotic. The Dr. Guislain Toolkit provides information and interaction prior to the visit with balance, structure and an increased engagement as a result. A ‘one fits all’ approach answers the needs of a broad range of users, including people with a mental impairment. 

NURTURE is a project of a comprehensive system of prefabricated ecological centers, offering economically available psychological help and support in local communities in Poland. It is a response to the post-pandemic global problem of depression and actual Ukrainian refugees' crisis. Low cost and ease of construction, and self-financing of center's use fights social exclusion and build local relations. A variety of the program and the possibility of rapid expansion, easily adapt to local needs.

For us it's just nothing, for blind people is everything.

We want to give the opportunity to blind people to feel art through senses they have more developed, in places they do not represent their normality, such as museums. Indeed, we decided to spread the vision of art not just through sight, thanks to five young promising artists' writings from around the world and a collaboration with hi-fi products brand Bang & Olufsen.
