NEB Prizes 2023: All Applications

The Anatomy of Islands Initiative has been carried out for 10 years on the Croatian islands with the aim of forming international platform for island research and development as an active participant in the affirmation of life on the islands. Our main activities include the organization of symposiums and workshops, in close cooperation with island communities, focusing on themes involving island futures and development of island communities, and implementing the ideas through local projects.

Architecture facing the global events we are witnessing cannot remain neutral. Climate change, pollution, gentrification, reprivatization, residents’ rights, or homelessness should be architecture’s concerns. The Architecture Snob magazine emerged out of a need to discuss modern architecture and reality from diverse, critical perspectives. The purpose of the magazine is to promote best practices and role models and to educate society about the importance of architecture in life.

VISKAĻI is a social innovation platform for creators of future. We co-design better quality of life and create tools for societal development, based on sustainability, inclusion, placemaking and non-formal education. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, based on the New European Bauhaus values, VISKAĻI provides 15 000 sq.m. of space and holds nurturing framework for countless social innovation forms in the former faculty of Aeronautics, Riga, Latvia.

Cultural and artistic project created to value the emotional aspect of fashion and recover antique and vintage textile pieces, from family closets, actualize them and create photographic documentation of the stories that belong to them. The premises of the development are creating a network like users and people interested in the transmission of experience, knowledge, and artisanal: cultural and artistic dissemination creating an expansive form of teaching, awakening involvement.

`Take a Breath of Nature!` is an organic place in our educational centre in rural area of Bicacel village, Lazareni Commune, Bihor where we want to arrange a beautiful artistic landscape with local medicinal plants, flowers, shrubs and other natural wide number of elements that have come together to create amazing shapes and features. We want to create a dream place where people can enjoy nature, near forest and get in touch with core forgotten feelings.

MATERIA is a community process on the reuse of plastics, led by the communal coworking space of Ruvo di Puglia, La Capagrossa. All the citizens (administration, schools,shops,entrepreneurs,etc.) are involved in the collection of the plastic wastes that are used in free laboratories dedicated to children and adults. Over the years,La Capagrossa became a territorial reference for training,research and small prototyping in the context of 3d making and sustainable design.

Youth social engagement (formed by students and teachers of the Nikšić School of Economics and Hospitality) implemented the "Green Challenge for All" project, which aims to improve and advance project and field teaching, student and teacher competencies, as well as awareness of the rational use of natural resources.

Type is a platform for design in the built environment. Our mission to share knowledge, increase accessibility, and support new insights in the fields of architecture, landscape, urban design, and planning in Ireland. These goals are supported through our online library. This digital repository is open to all, with each membership sustainably financing future projects, allowing for a truly long-term contribution to building a sense of place and belonging to the wider built environment.

A network of innovative bird observatories are placed around the the Klisova Lagoon, linking nature with urban life, and forming new landmarks to mark the need for its protection.Their design, the result of a multidisciplinary and paricipatory approach, incorporates elements of innovation on sustainability aspects, structural system and architectural expression, offering a new educational paradigm for the development of future innovative projects in sensitive ecosystems worldwide.
