Description of the project

Summary

Since 2006 medicinal plants and harmful chemicals-free pharmaceutical products market have been on a quick rise in many countries in the world, mainly in developed countries. A study shows the annual growth of 7,6% between 2012 and 2016. (https://braver.com.br)

German doctors and patients increasingly prefer herbal medicines. About three quarters of customers opt for natural remedies (https://www.dw.com). I propose to develop an innovative project for the organic cultivation of medicinal herbs, establishing the interaction from kindergarten schools to universities, patients undergoing neurological treatment, depression, drug addicts, patients with Alzheimer's, pharmacies and laboratories of floral and homeopathic alternatives.

I believe that teachers and students will be able to put into practice the theory learned in the classroom, pharmaceutical laboratories can develop healthy medication without side effects, and patients will be able to work through practical activities of planting and handling medicinal herbs. Pharmacies and laboratories will receive production as an input, providing multidisciplinary interaction.

Key objectives for sustainability

The main objective is to create an external environment so that young and old people can complement each other in activities, helping each other out. Promote external classes to take the children who are living 100% of their day in digital media, create alternatives for pleasurable activities by getting their hands dirty. As it is an open project for the local community, the excess of medicinal herbs produced can be sold to maintain at least 20% of the expenses generated. Through the activities developed in this project, sustainable habits will start to be a standard for the community. Through the cultivation, management and consumption of medicinal herbs, we will reduce the consumption of chemical medication in the entire community.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

In schools, squares, plazas and woods there are many spaces available where beds can be created to produce medicinal herbs. At the same time that medicinal herbs will leave the environments pleasant and beautiful, they will provide leaves, flowers, stems and roots to make teas, spices and remedies for the community. Quotes will offered to private companies, to collaborate with the maintenance of the project; Community members will be invited to collaborate voluntarily; The production and results will be published monthly on social media; A personalized application will be developed to inform the properties of each plant, what it is for, how to use it and how to grow it.

Key objectives for inclusion

My mother is an environmental manager. In 2012 she developed a project for the cultivation of medicinal herbs in Brazil within the space of an environmental school. Patients from the public health system undergoing psychiatric treatment were doing occupational therapy for the cultivation of medicinal herbs. In three months of activities, medications were reduced by 50% in 3 of the 5 patients who attended the project.
In addition to this example, I intend to put the elderly and children to develop activities together, elder people always have incredible stories to tell, the children love it, it will certainly be pleasant for the elderly to have the company of children and for children it will be knowledge that they will carry on in their memories.
I find very important this interaction between their perspectives, one life begins and the other ends.

Innovative character

In this sad and painful moment in which we are living, in the midst of a pandemic, the challenge is to create a pleasant atmosphere, where life and natural environment can be transforming the lives of many people.
The post covid world could be one with sustainable environmental alternatives that can provide the retrieval of knowledge about medicinal herbs and passing it on again to next generations, as it used to happen in the past.
This project can be developed anywhere in the world, it just needs people, a piece of land, air, water and good stories to tell.
