Description of the project
Summary
Terzo giardino is a work of art for landscape. It creates a public park on Arno side in Firenze.
Project insists on a 10.000 sqm area in the core historic city center, on the left side river nearby Lungarno Serristori.
Terzo Giardino requalifies a city river edge and makes it available to the service of the city. That place suggests a bottom-up city spot simbolically related to a social meaning.
Terzo Giardino has been made by subtraction, by using public facilities tractors to cut out of the spontaneous vegetation dense matle, walkable paths.
The project design is inspired by Giardino dei Semplici models, by italian gardens tradition and by Clément Third Landscape theory as a politic methafor.
Area is divided in two parts: a first one geometrically organized in parterres and a second one, along the river, where dense “spontaneous vegetation walls” introduce to “stanzas on the river”.
These last one are places where quitely stay under threes shadow and to keep in touch in a new kind of relationship with Firenze monumental landscape.
Parterres have been divided in four sides to invite to look carefully at abandonement biological richness, lo look at the man rational organization remains, at the Third Landscape. Suggesting to look at the abandonemnt richness Terzo Giardino launches a political message about diversity potentiality of beauty and evolution.
