Description of the project

Summary

Giving children an opportunity to plant, tend and harvest their own food helps them learn first hand where vegetables come from and how to care for living things. This project idea aims not only introduced the garden areas into the preschools, but also made the school garden itself a place where children, parents and teachers would connect and socialize. The more schools can provide agriculture education, the more awareness can be raised in future generation. At this point, it’s important to create an environment where children can grow with plants with exploring.

Key objectives for sustainability

In terms of sustainability teaching future generations how to change the way they produce and consume goods and resources is significant enough to make a difference. Simply put, building planting gardens in the preschools provide to increase green areas which can reduce CO2 emission in cities. It can create a localized produce environment through plants grown by children to use in their own homes and share with neighbors and grow up with an awareness of produce food and agriculture.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

It’s always nice to see green areas with children in the city! Introducing children (and sometimes with parents) with gardening activities positively effects on their pediatric development and well-being.

Key objectives for inclusion

These planting gardens activities can create communities where teachers and parents organize events for children learning share and spending quality time.

Innovative character

These gardens can be adapt every educational system. Although it is difficult to make the gardens in each school due to economic reasons, different solutions can be produced. Some place of existing gardens can be converted or some parts of the roofs can be used as garden. If there isn’t any garden area (possible in cities), solution might be adding some modular plant pots in to the interior areas.
