Project Description

Does art need a lot of space and a lot of money?

Can only big cities have spectacular centers of contemporary art?

The activity of a miniature contemporary art center allows even a person from small towns to learn about art on a daily basis. It allows the artist to test low-cost, small-scale models, reducing the impact on the environment. It has created a community of people from a small town of Pobiedziska and they shared a passion for art and creativity.

Description of the project

Summary

The Miniature Contemporary Art Center has completed 6 seasons. The building is 2 meters high, 6 floors, and the base is 80 x 80 cm, and is located in the open-air museum of models architecture in Pobiedziska.
Despite the small dimensions of the building, it is a complete institution for organizing exhibitions, artistic residencies and exhibitions. The most important moment is the opening of the season, where local artists, folk dance groups, musicians and writers or poets perform. It is a meeting place and artistic energy exchange in small town Pobiedziska. The Miniature Art Center is located on the road between large cities, so it is also visited by people from large cities.
The small scale allowed for the creation of exhibitions with minimal financial involvement of the artists. This allowed some of them to present themselves more freely. The small scale of artistic objects is a lower burden on the natural environment. The building was also smaller in size and does not use energy for heating and lighting, which makes friendly to the planet.
I really care about promoting the idea of a miniature art center due to the ascetic and minimalistic nature of not only the object, but also its impact on the natural environment. The small scale also allows more artists to get involved in the project, who can test their ideas on models.
The art center building was designed in a 1:20 scale as a glass skyscraper. It has a modular structure into which you can insert artistic objects. This had a direct impact on the ease of arranging exhibitions and repeatability. The building was transported to other locations several times in modules. The original form aroused great interest and became a reference point in the artistic calendar for people from Pobiedziska.

Key objectives for sustainability

There are many main goals. One of them was an artistic joke. Because the neighboring big city of Poznań still does not have an art center, despite the large community and art academy. I wanted to show that an art center is an idea in the heart, not a big building. Sincere intentions are the most important. You don't need a large budget to organize a series of exhibitions in collaboration with the curators. The costs of transport, insurance, material purchase and environmental impact are also minimized. I dream of setting off on a journey with this center through small towns in Europe to promote this idea among local communities. An idea that is within the reach of local small and poor towns.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

During the beginning of the season, 6 times there was a very large meeting of local artists and residents with artists who came from other regions of Poland or from around the world. The result was workshops for young people in Pobiedziska led by several artists. The whole was created in cooperation with the Pobiedziska cultural center, which promoted contemporary art among young people and residents.
People from the Polish artistic milieu were also present in this project, and since then, there has been a greater desire to create the idea of contemporary art centers than to build buildings.

Key objectives for inclusion

Two things went well. Mixing the invited artists at the vernissages with folk artists from Pobiedziska and their mutual longer or shorter relationships or artistic projects. And also trips of the building to other towns and galleries where the idea of a small center of contemporary art was promoted. Each time it met with great interest.

Please explain how the citizens who benefited from or were affected by the project and civil society were involved in the project and what impact this involvement had on the project
The miniature center has its main idea to support the development of young and beginning artists and exhibition curators. It was the invited curators, for whom these were often the first exhibitions, that fueled the center's activity. Most of the curators with this experience were later employed in Polish art centers or galleries. And the artists gained experience while experimenting. A year later, one of the artists presented himself at the Venice Biennale.

Results in relation to category

Two things went well. Mixing the invited artists at the vernissages with folk artists from Pobiedziska and their mutual longer or shorter relationships or artistic projects. And also trips of the building to other towns and galleries where the idea of a small center of contemporary art was promoted. Each time it met with great interest.
The idea of a small contemporary art center is innovative and not very popular. We managed to organize a lot of exhibitions with little money, which influenced the development of both the local community and the artists themselves. At the same time, promoting art as a form of play, even playing with scale.

How Citizens benefit

The project is largely an independent, independent project based on a fascination with the idea of people involved. Of course the people involved, however, it made it clear that as something innovative curators, artists and staff more involved. Contemporary art, which was created for the first time in Poba, intrigued musicians about the advances of folk, authors and writers for other activities. For 6 seasons and years, the literature was in operation, now it is in suspension and is looking for a new formula and money.

Innovative character

Minimalism. Conservation of natural resources used in the creation of art. Facilitate creators and curator of development and experimentation. Combining folk art with modern art. Facilitating access to art for people from smaller towns. Helping local towns and villages to create art while using very small budgets. Reduction of the carbon footprint generated by the building.
