CHECK is a cloud-based solution that will delete paper or email receipts from our daily purchases. Indeed, it will permit consumers to centralize their receipts from all stores and provide a professional space to manage their expenses in a smooth process : from the employee to the accounting.

Summary
General presentation
CHECK is a cloud based solution that is proposing through one mobile app, two different spaces, as an individual and as a professional. Indeed, in a same day, consumers are making different expenses and they would like to handle them in only one app. CHECK will delete paper or email receipts from our daily purchases for both personal and professional expenses. Our project brings three main value propositions, first, it will democratize the use of 0 paper (30 billion of receipts are printed each year only in France) and prevent from any loss of receipts. Secondly, CHECK will permit a to have a smooth process of professional expenses in companies thank's to a direct connection with their accounting software. Last but not least, every store that will use our solution will benefit from a daily report of their customer experience.
Example case
Let's take a concrete example together, Marion who is a Business Developer Manager in a construction company. In her day, she will visit three different stores: Ristorante DelArte, Darty and H&M.
- She will begin her expenses at lunch time when going to Ristorante DelArte with a client, in this case, Marion will need to keep her paper receipt to make an expense report and give it to her accounting
- After her lunch, Marion is going to Darty to buy a tablet that will be used on field. Here, she will need to keep again her paper receipt to make an expense report and to benefit from the
guarantee in case of issue. - Last but not least, after leaving the office, she is going to H&M to buy a dress for her friend's birthday. In this case, it is a personal expense where she will need to keep her paper receipt to prevent from any size issue with the dress.
Problems without CHECK
Without CHECK Marion is separating her personal and professional expenses. She lost her receipt for her friend's present and her professional expenses are taking 30 days to be threated.
Key objectives for sustainability
CHECK is an initiative that has sustainability in its DNA, we will detail our five pilars below:
Delete of paper receipts
Our project has at its origin the purpose to delete paper receipts. Indeed, in France, we know that more than 30 billion of paper receipts are printed every year which represents more than 2.5 millions of trees and more than 950 millions litres of water used for small pieces that are most of the time keeped less than one minute. When CHECK will be launched we will democratize the use of 0 paper.
Delete of email receipts
Our project also points out the use of email receipts which has been pushed by several entities over the year trying to make us thing that is a better alternative than paper receipts. However, when looking at their carbon print more in detail, we know that sending an email with an attachment (as a receipt) is consuming 30g of CO2 and cost around 10g of CO2 each year to keep it in your mailbox.
Auto-delete of receipts after legal term of purchase
After our researched and by understanding that keeping a receipt in your mailbox is consuming large amount of CO2, we have decided to implement an "auto-delete" receipt function that will ask the user to delete his receipts after their legal term of purchase.
Partnership with Reforest'action to plant tree every 5,000 receipts generated
At CHECK, we know that paper receipt has killed hundred of millions of trees in the world. Which is why, more than stopping to kill them, we have decided to replant them every time we generate 5,000 receipts in our server.
Selection of our hosting (O2switch French one)
As our project will have an important use of hosting and data centers, our team spent much time to decide which one will be the best to support our adventure. We have finally selected o2switch for two main reasons: they have their data centers in France with strict measures regarding CO2 and their carbon print.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
The purpose of CHECK is to make consumers' life easier, indeed, thank's to the technology that exists today, threating expenses should be an easy process. We will detail our solutions below.
Cloud solutions
- Mobile application
The mobile application CHECK provides two spaces, indeed, by a simple switch on the top of your screen you will be able to switch from your personal space to your profesional one. The app will give consumers the possibility to handle all their expenses in one app only, that means no need to have an app for each store or to separate the type of expenses. Moreover, from the app itself, you will have the possibility to send your professional expense directly to your manager for validation or the accounting team of your company.
- Web Application
As part of our solutions, we will provide a Web App to companies that are using CHECK. The idea is to give flexibility to companies according to their processes: in case of validation step from manager/director or if expenses can be sent directly to the accounting team. Indeed, for companies that have "validation step" done by managers of teams, they will have a Web App where expenses are pending for validation, it means only expenses validated by the managers will be sent to the accounting team.
Intra connectivity between these solutions
Our solution will create an entire ecosystem to handle expenses of a company. Thus, whenever an employee is making a professional expense and get the receipt on his CHECK mobile app while checking out at store or a restaurant, the expense will be sent for validation on the Web App of the company.
Inter connectivity between CHECK and accounting systems
With the purpose of always being connected to existing solutions and keep in mind to make consumers' life easier, CHECK will be connectable to accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Cegid etc. This will permit a perfect productivity from the receipt to the accounting.
Key objectives for inclusion
The founding team of CHECK is multidisciplinary in terms of degrees and origins. Indeed, we are from SKEMA Business School and Polytech'Nice Engineering School. Moreover, we have 4 different origins (Sri Lanka, Poland, Morroco and France) that gave us the opportunity to have an open-minded way of thinking.
We will below detail our objectives and plans to achieve each:
Good relations at the workplace
We believe that having good relations between all team members in a company is a key to productivity. It is then crucial to implement open communication and flexibility around offices hours and home office. Feeling good at your workplace also means adapt the infrastructures for your colleagues with less mobility.
Decision process more efficient
Every member of the team will have to take decision, and we believe that great decision are made by member who feel trusted by the management team. Which is why we would implement a rewarding system where decision of our collaborator are gratified on their names instead of the founding team.
Innovation leverage
At CHECK, we believe that nothing has to be taken fot granted. Indeed, we believe that a great company needs to have a great capacity of adaptation to survive over the decades. Which is why we will implement monthly "Innovation Workshops" where all collaborators can suggest new ideas, form a team and work on it as a project.

Innovative character
The innovative character of CHECK's project remains in four main pilars that will be detailed below:
Delete paper/customer account/email receipts
First of all, we all know the acutal possibilities that are already in place. Indeed, we can have our receipt in paper or dematerialized through e-mail or a customer account. The idea of CHECK is to rationalize all them in one mobile app that will never need paper receipts anymore.
Universality of our solution
Moreover, a strong pilar of our project is the universality of usage, indeed, nothing will need to be changed for the stores or accounting teams to use CHECK. Our solution will be easily plugged into actual processes to make everyone's life easier.
Double spaces to handle personal and profesional expenses
Furthemore, our vision of "double spaces" is unique in sense of what is actually provided on the market. Indeed, there are several mobile apps that gives the great opportunity to scan your personal expenses and keep the guarantee safe. Moreover, you have scanning mobile app to save your profesional expenses and send them through e-mail to your accounting. However, at CHECK we believe that we are all spending money both for personal or profesional purposes and that, usually in the same day. Which is why, we will provide these two spaces to consumers, accessible by an easy "switch button".
Interconnectivity with our solutions and accounting systems
Last but not least, because we believe that CHECK will permit to make everyone's life easier, we will connect throught APIs our mobile app to our web app which will be as well connected to the accounting software of companies.
