At the time when almost 40% of the population lives in crowded conditions and the average living space per person consists of 15,4 m2, multifunctional furniture has become the greatest solution. To make the most of the space you have, all you realy need ist a open mind! The Sideboard presents a solution to arrange little space at its best. It is able to adapt to the user's needs by the use of a few simple moves. This very intelligent module is capable of replacing 10 furniture furniture items.

Summary
The Sideboard by CreateSpace presents a solution to arrange little space at its best. It is able to adapt to the user's needs by the use of a few simple moves. This very intelligent module is capable of replacing 10 furniture items. With its decent size, consists of table with adjustable height and width which may be used in various ways such as a bar counter or a full-featured dining table for two to four people. Therefore, you may save up to 6,5 m2 in your apartment. Additionally, the sideboard maintains more than 60% of its storage space.
This very intelligent module is capable of replacing 10 furniture items. It is able to adapt to the user's needs by the use of a few simple moves. The table can be utilized in various ways, for instance, as a dining table, bar counter or kitchen working unit. The sideboard also includes 6 comfortable chairs. The extraordinary approach taken to the storage space is achieved by the use of elastic and flexible ropes, which underline the original character trait of this item.
Key objectives for sustainability
The key objectives of the project were to offer people living in smaller apartments an alternative. Living in a small flats does not necessarily have to be uncomfortable. Life is a game and we wanted to work playfully with space and furniture - furniture in small flats should respond to all different life situations and enrich the living space without compromise.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
It is difficult to combine functional design and minimalistic aesthetics. The sideboard is produced from high-quality oriented strand board and stainless steel. Besides its functional versatility, the sideboard catches the eye thanks to its different colour variations. individuality is very important. In addition, this piece is easily and completely adaptable to your interior. You may either change the colour of the ropes or the wood as regards to your needs. Due to its multifunctional use, the most challenging aspect of designing the Sideboard by CreateSpace is to resolve all the technical details and their accurate manufacturing. Also using ropes instead of classic doors led to experimentation with materials, mechanisms, and fabrication techniques. As the opening system was established, multiple iterations of physical models led to definig the distance and diameter of the ropes to ensure a satisfying interaction and transparecy.
Key objectives for inclusion
The future of living in mini flats is a fact that is becoming a reality in big cities. The multifunctional sideboard is designed for people who do not have the luxury of a large flat but still want to have all the possibilities of comfortable living.
Results in relation to category
The multifunctional sideboard - Create Space has won the A'Design Award and Competition in the category Furniture Design. But more importantly we would like to make this furniture available to a wide range of people.

The project would affect a wide target group of people living in metropolitan areas and improve their lives in mini flats. The future of housing are smart furnitures which enrich the space and the quality of life in it.
Innovative character
Smart Home is on everyone's lips - but so far there has been little talk of intelligent furniture. Smart Home is no longer a fiction but a reality. Up to now, the furniture industry has concentrated on producing products that are practical, functional and attractive to look at. However, breathing intelligence into them through multifunctionality is an enormous challenge for the industry.
