Nowadays aesthetics and beauty have an important place in society. Consumers seek products that make them look young, fresh and sparkling. Knowing that these products are mainly chemical, the idea of offering a 100% natural skincare brand with an ecofriendly process appeared for us spontaneously. Ambrosia, will be the 1st Portuguese brand 100% natural established in Bragança, whose product line is based on prickly pear seed essential oil. With the respect of the environment, sustainability.

Description of the project
Summary
AMBROSIA, will be a 100% Portuguese brand providing skin care products without chemical additives and which will not be tested on animals.
We will work with prickly pear seed oil. This oil is extracted from the seeds without the addition of solvents, to make it as pure as possible. The seeds can be bought from farmers, but also from large companies like Compal, who use the fruit for juice and throw away the seeds. In this case, we use their waste to create our own oil and this is one of our ways of being environmentally friendly.
We will sell the oil as such but we will also use it to create and offer moisturisers and anti-aging creams.
The choice of this oil is based on its extraordinary benefits, it is rich in vitamin E, more than the famous Argan oil.
But, to go further in our values of ecology and sustainability, we have combined our project with another project "Ecarmin".
The other project will have its own cactus culture to produce the Cochenial insect and offer a natural red dye without allergens to all industries. We will use the fruit to produce prickly pear jam, the seeds for oil and our skin care products and the waste to make our own liquid biofertiliser.
And in this way we will have a circular economy, sustainable, environmentally friendly and respectful of the needs and health of consumers.
Key objectives for sustainability
Our main values is the respect of the environment and the animals. To use recyclable product, to not use harmful product to the skin but also to the environment. To have a sustainable and circular economy.
For that purpose, we will use recyclable product for our packaging that can be reused or recycled. Like glass or even crock that we will use for the closing part of the packaging.
We will not test our product in animals. Since all of the components are natural and have already been tested in laboratory, we are sure that they are not harmful. And we will test in synthetic skin cell in case of need to give the most respectful and safe product.
In the same perspective, our collaboration with "Ecarmin" will help us to have a circular economy that respect and reach the sustainable goals we will put in place. The raw material will be used in the totality, from the cladodes to the seed of the fruit and also using the insects that will be raised for the purpose of creating red colorant E120 without allergen.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
We believe that we should give an experience of natural and relaxant product. When customer use our skin care products, we would like them to feel important and beautify. Also that we are respecting their skin and not harming it.
When they see our packaging, we want them to feel our values and to see that we are really working on them. We want our packaging and aesthetics to be responsable and eco-friendly, that reflect the purity of the ingredient and origin of the product, Portugal. That is why we will use Cork, it is one of the most famous and present material in Portugal. We will use brown glass, that is recyclable and reflect the environment. Our design and packaging will be minimalist to reflect the purity and safety of our ingredients.
Key objectives for inclusion
In terms of inclusion, our aim is to employ both trained and untrained people to give everyone the chance to work. And this without taking into consideration gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability etc and therefore without discrimination.
Our products will also be accessible to all regardless of ethnicity.
We are also committed to respecting animals and therefore we will not test our products on animals as this is an important environmental issue.
Innovative character
Ambrosia will be the first Portuguese industry that will valorize the Portuguese prickly pear production in the cosmetic sector. We will offer a large and various skin care products line in the national and international market. Our online platform will be commercial and educative while offering the possibility to compose personalized products according to the needs of the users, thanks to the innovation of mixing more than two oils 100% naturals to improve an efficiency effect.
a-What is the innovation in the product:
Our products will be 100% made in Portugal from the raw materials to the final product, natural and EcoFriendly which will conform to International standards and requirements (ISO, Ecocert and various organic and ecological certification). we will offer a revolutionary line of products in the cosmetic and the being well world giving shine and natural beauty.
Our brand will offer new skin care products for the daily routine based on this oil and oil mixed to highlight a double effect, all within an ecological and natural concept, knowing that a majority of the skin products in the market have chemicals inside ( Nivea for exemple use at least 3 petroleum ingredients) or use oil imported from other countries like north Africa.
b-What is the innovation in the process:
The entire production cycle will be in Portugal, which eliminates the importation from abroad and therefore the reduction of the carbon footprint and reduces transport costs.
The process of production will be without additions of solvents or chemicals (unlike competitors who add these additives to increase their yield). In cooperation with the Centro de Investigação de Montanha , we study the process optimization plan in order to increase the output. Then our machines and equipment will be Portuguese origin in order to maintain our 100% local ideology.
