Project Description
Studiomap is the beginning of your career as an artist.
With a simple and powerful interface, artists, studio managers, producers, photographers, and videographers can easily find each other and start creating together.
In a world where the desire to create is too often repressed by the social complexity of the industry milieu, where word of mouth prevents young talent from breaking through, Studiomap unlocks everything.

Description of the project
Summary
We are creating a digital platform to connect artists, creative studios (music, photography, rehearsal, dance, etc.) and freelance creators.
Our platform will simplify and optimize the process of searching for and booking creative studios and freelance talent. In this way, it will democratize access to high-level artistic creation for artists of all skill and experience levels. No longer will artists be dependent on word-of-mouth and social status; the tools and talent to bring art to life will be, literally, at their fingertips.
Key objectives for sustainability
Our project has primarily social and cultural objectives.
That being said, as we understand the obligation of our generation make our planet a better place, we also have a vision for how Studiomap will contribute to the environment. Indeed, by allowing our customers to find studios closer to where they live, we participate directly in the shortening their trips and reducing travel-related pollution. We will also be putting in a system of reminders to utilize public transportation when it is available, and our studio listings will always provide relevant public transport/eco-friendly travel information (i.e. metro and bus stops, nearby electric car charging stations, etc.).
We have designed this project to demonstrate the positive economic, social, and environmental impacts that the world of artistic and cultural creation can have.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
Our goal is for our users to be able to book a session for whatever kind of studio they need in the breeze of a few clicks.
To achieve this, we have invested heavily in the design of our platform, in particular by making sure that the following objectives are met:
- The user journey, from opening the app/site to confirming a reservation, should not last more than 120 seconds on average and should not require more than 6-8 clicks. To achieve this, we make sure that our platform is as intuitive and accessible as possible. We are currently having as many individuals as possible test the user path to verify that these objectives hold true, and we take their comments into account in order to continually improve the platform UX.
- The platform has a strong, attractive, and easily-recognizable graphic identity.
To achieve this visual notoriety, we have chosen to use vibrant colors in our logo and design system. These colors, as well as a system of accessibility-enhancing contrasts, shadows, and imagery are present throughout the interface of the platform to immerse the user in an aesthetic both modern and high-impact.
Key objectives for inclusion
Our objectives in terms of inclusion are the following:
- Studiomap’s very raison d’être is to democratize and facilitate access to the means of quality artistic creation for independent artists. The creative sphere is, historically, a particularly closed environment, functioning essentially by word of mouth and therefore difficult to access for small artists who may not be well-connected in the milieu of their city or country. We want to put an end to this nepotism-inducing isolation by giving all artists, regardless of experience, social status, or economic means, a simple and intuitive application.
In addition, by allowing studio owners to reduce their rates on certain time slots for their studios (off-peak hours), we aim to decrease the breakthrough price for struggling artists. The studios will benefit as they fill hours in their schedule that they usually can't, and artists will benefit from their increased access not only to studio material but also to the other clients and creators in those studios, helping them to build their personal network. This is a win-win situation for everyone, and it will make creative and artistic production even more exciting.
- We have established a partnership with the French association "La Lucarne d'Ariane," which allows the reintegration of ex-convicts into society through art and culture. We hold a firm conviction that art can transform a life, and that is why we are committed to recruiting the first employees of Studiomap among such people in social and professional difficulty.
Innovative character
The innovative character of our project can be summed up into two principal parts:
a) Innovation of use
We aspire to offer the first peer-to-peer platform in the sector audiovisual production space. Our platform is intended to serve users in the following specific fields:
- music recording
- photography and video production
- musical, choreographic or theatrical rehearsal
- independent photographers, directors, designers, and amateur visual and/or recording artists.
More generally, we want to propose the first application solution covering all creative sectors and allowing any artist to pursue their creative process from A to Z without leaving the app.
To date, there are only websites offering a limited range of services in each of these areas, and no actor currently on the market covers all of the aforementioned use cases..
b) Technological innovation
In designing our app, we have chosen to pursue 3 channels of technological innovation:
- We are using Flutter, a new open source user interface software development platform created by Google, to develop the mobile and web versions of our app. Flutter provides the advantage of allowing us to develop an application for all platforms (Android, IOS, Mac, Windows, etc.) from a single code base.
- We are using the database management system MongoDB, which can be distributed on any number of computers, does not require a predefined data schema, and allows the creation of scalable micro-services. This means that our app is completely future-proof, and we will be able to easily keep up with changes in technology and use cases as time goes on and hardware moves towards the future.
- In order to better connect our customers with the services they are looking for, we will be developing several machine-learning algorithms. These algorithms will provide suggestions to users for studios and freelancers that, based on their past in-app activity, may interest them.
