Summary
Solar energy, clean alternative energy, renewable energies, inexhaustible energy sustainable development, these are the challenges of the future to face the soaring cost of traditional energies and counter their harmful effects in order to offer a better world to the next generations.
In this clean energy business, several innovative projects have emerged, particularly in the area of electricity production and heating. Our Company, for its part, offers you to extend this model of solar energy use by applying it to the designs and aesthetics of infrastructures to be able to appreciate them at night without thinking about the cost of the electricity. By opting for our service, prepare to be surprised by the beauty of what will surround you at night.
Our mission is to use the abundant solar energy of our world to implement the technology of lighting design with LED in our outiside infrastructures in order to appreciate them in the nocturnal environment.
Our company will specialize its activity on a service of renovation of pedestrian infrastructure firstly, before expanding its business to other types of infrastructures.
We are now able to offer two types of solar devices:
· One with an automatic circuit that light up every night at sunset detection.
· The second is connected to a mobile application that allows the customer to control, via his phone, the lightening of the devices whenever he wants during the night and then turn them off to better preserve the battery of the product.
Our main challenge was to be sure to develop a product that has an important power capacity. Thanks to our electronic circuit ,the device is 100% autonomous in terms of power, because it uses solar energy to power its LEDs and has a lighting capacity of at least 7 hours per day, regardless of the weather during the day.
Key objectives for sustainability
In terms of sustainability, our main goal was to develop a product that uses renewable energy. That's why we have decided to opt for solar energy, as the sole source of operation of our product and we have developped an electronic circuit that help us optimize the performance even if their is clouds that hide the sun and the weather is cold.
Our second goal was to use some recycled materials on our product. To help achieve this objective, the box of our product is in recyclable white ABS.
Furthermore, all electronic products that are used, are recycled during our maintenance intervention each year. Speaking of electronic products, we have opted for products of high quality and high durability. The LEDS and solar cells have a lifespan of 25 years and operate in extreme frost and rain conditions. Electrical components also have an average lifespan of 10 years. Even for the batteries, we have chosed to use special batteries with a storage capacity of 5000 ah. These batteries are not available on the market and have a lifespan of two years which will push the customer to contact us for the maintenance service for the change of batteries.
To protect our product from the weither, we have developped a waterproofing solution with a specialized a laboratory that has given us a certification.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
In terms of asthetics, we have worked to be able to customize the leds with design figures that will be engraved on the ground. Thanks to the milling technique, we can make our lighting device adopt any design figure desired by the customer. As a result, each infrastructure that will have installed our products will have its own soul and its own lightning design.As an example, for a company, we can create the luminous logo in the ground , for a city we can create an emblematic figure such as the Eiffel Tower for Paris, the Statue of Liberty for New York or the Indian Taj Mahal. Finally for a retail client we can offer him pre-established design figures like what I have show you in the images below.
All those efforts have been developed so that each person can better enjoy their infrastructure in the night environment and make it their own with a personal touch , because as we can notice, the gardens, the terraces, the balconies and even ,in some cases, the streets are most of the time empty at night because the design is eclipsed by lack of luminosity. Our project proposes to live more experiences during the night with infrastructures that are illuminated for free thanks to the light of the sun and in addition with the design of colored lights and figures.
Key objectives for inclusion
One of the main sucess criteria to our project is to be able to make this innovation affordable for each person or organisation that is interested in embracing the technology of lighting design LED's by solar power. To help achieve this main goal, we are commited to be able to offer to the client two type of modelizations in his outside infrastructure. Thanks to our business model of offering a full service, we can adjust the price of the project by adjusting the numbers of devices that will be used on the infrastructure and the dimensions of the design figures. Once we are contacted by the client, we will offer two types of modelizations:
- One modelization will have a number of devices and design figues that matches the client budget.
- The second one will have the best configuration design for the client infrastructure.
It will be up to the client to choose the most affordable option which is the first or the best design option which is the second.
Regarding the accecibility of the innovation, we have planned to have three assembly line that will produce the product in the short and middle term:
- One will be in France and will produce for european clients
- One will be in Morocco and will produce for african clients
- One will be in Dubai and will produce for Middle east clients
Thanks to my degree in industrial engineering , i was able to create a process that enables us to produce one product each two minutes with only two persons as production operators. Because of the lean management that we embrace we will be able to quickly adapt to a big order.
Results in relation to category
To help response to this question i will explain how i had the idea to develop our service. The Moroccan city of Chefchaouen, called the Blue Pearl, is ranked among the 10 most beautiful cities in the world according to a study by the British magazine Wanderlust. Indeed this city is distinguished by its architectural aspect and its atypical blue coloring which make it a destination of choice for national and especially international visitors.
The success of this city as well as its international fame is thanks to the creative efforts of the local population and the architects who have succeeded in giving a soul and revealing the aesthetics of their daily space. These design techniques are easily appreciated during the day thanks to the sunlight, however at night these masterpieces are unfortunately eclipsed and indistinguishable due to the low light intensity present (for lack of cost) and visitors are deprived of the appreciation of these beauties in the night environment.
From a personal point of view, i think that my project fits perfectly into the category i apply for which is "Regenerated urban and rural spaces" because the majority of the efforts that we do to regenerate those spaces are only appriciated during the day. The forms of art produced in public space, such as graffiti, stenciling, mosaic, sticker, display and collage, or installations such as urban knitting can only be seen during the day and most of the time no effort is made to make them shine during the night.
Thanks to our solution, the outside infrastructures will not only be enlightened for free, but will push the people to go outside during the night to appreciate a new form of lightning design while doing a run or cycling in a cycle path.
How Citizens benefit
Since the project is still in the prototyping phase, it is still has not been tested by the civil society. Nevertheless, the idea of the project has been shared and discussed with an important number of people. Those discussions have helped immerge the idea of digitalization and customization of the project. We first started developing a product that can illuminate at night with some colorful design using solar power. After talking to people, we have understood that they give a lot of importance to digitalization, they want be able to manipulate the LEDs with their phones and be able to change the color, use some programs and also turn on the LEDs whenever they want to. Moreover, we understood that they need a unique project, something that has never been done before. That is why we have moved our business model from offering a product to offering a service that includes the customizable modelization, the production, the supply chain, the installation and finally the maintenance. We have been able to find a production process that enable the client to choose any type of design figure that he want to see lightning at night. We have also included the client validation on each step of this process so that he can feel that he was part of the renovation of his infrastructure from the start till the end.
Innovative character
Our company has developped a "device" based on LED lighting to better enjoy our spaces after sunset. This device is 100% autonomous in terms of power, because it uses solar energy to power its LEDs and has a lighting capacity of at least 7 hours per day, regardless of the weather during the day. You can control its ignition by our digital application wherever you are thanks to the wifi network. If the place doesn't have a wifi network, we also have a device that turns on automatically every night without the need of human activation.
Our startup has firstly a differentiation on the product itself. In fact, we have 4 keys competetives advantages on the product:
The digitalization : It enable the clients to choose differents color via our app with a number of programs
The autonomy: Our product is the only device on the market that has working power of minimum 7 hours
The power: Our product is 10 times more powerful than the existing products
The manipulation: Our product is the only one that have the solar cell separeted from the lightning device, that help us creat some design figures and search for the best position to get solar power.
The particularity of our start up does not lie only in the innovation of its product but also in its business model and its value proposition. In fact, our company will be a service company that will sell its client a turnkey installation project with customizable design modeling and an installation service. We are therefore not going to sell the product one by one. We will follow the process of 1-Modelization ,2-Sample test,3-Personalized commercial offer, 4-Production, 5-Delivery, 6-Installation and commissioning, 7-Maintenance.
