Description of the project

Summary

Alis is a powerful portable lighting device. The user can control its functionality with simple gestures. The right side of the lamp increases the brightness the left side simply decreases it. A series of accessories and a patented mechanism turns Alis into a wall lamp a floor lamp or a desk lamp, reducing the number of devices in your environment. It’s a “one light fits all” system. The three different bases also work as USB-C fast chargers. The Alis application unlocks new features, allowing the customer to create a network of lights where every Alis becomes controller of all other devices. It is also compatible with the latest home assistants. Alis is a magical device, it includes technologies that you won’t find in any other lamp on the high end market. Alis employs an advanced accelerometer that transforms movements into signals that adjust the brightness of one device or the whole system. A built-in Wi-Fi module creates a decentralised mesh and allows communications between the devices. If one lamp is not working the others will still be able to communicate between them. Special firmware filters were designed in order to avoid accidental moves and control mistakes. Alis comes from the art of sculpting. The design team inspired by Brancusi and Sabattini created a symmetric balance between  hundred years old shapes and a breakthrough technology. Alis signifies “A Light In Space”. Alis is the perfect combination between great design and awesome technology. It is conceived for people who love unique silhouettes but want more from their lamps, and for those who love technologies but wish to have more sophisticated looking products. It is suitable for any kind of interior residential, commercial or exterior.

Key objectives for sustainability

The 90% of the components are made in Italy within a radius of 30km making it a very low carbon impact product. The 95% of the materials are recyclable. Its iconic design makes it a product that will be passed from generations to generations, searched and bought by collectors. Three different accessories reduce the number of devices you need to illuminate spaces, reducing the numbers of devices that will be manufactured per person/house. Since Alis uses a processor and a server, machine learning capabilities can be implemented and add users behaviour analysis reducing the consumption of energy. In the future an accessory for independent solar charging will be added.

Key objectives for aesthetics and quality

Alis was designed in order to integrate perfectly with the human body but also stimulate the user to interact with the object. The design has been registered at the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

Key objectives for inclusion

This project is actually a story of exclusion. It was presented to many companies who first showed interest but then refused to produce it. So we didn't give up and accepted the challenge by starting a company and bringing this project to life with our forces.

Results in relation to category

For sure Alis is the most advanced lighting device that can be found on the market. There is a big gap especially in Europe between Design and Tech. Usually products look good but they still have a cable a bulb and a switch. The tech products have some interesting usability features but the fail aesthetically. Alis is the perfect combination of both. Alis has a European patent pending.
