This chair is the product of a contemporary, sustainable approach to design. A meticulous designing process, combined with resource-friendly construction, led to this three-legged, lightweight, stackable chair made exclusively of wood. It seems familiar at first sight, then surprises us with its many thoughtful details, its elegance, and the fact that it is extremely comfortable.

Description of the project
Summary
The first chair I can remember is the dining chair of my grandparents. This Chair was part of an convolut of really minimalistic designed danish wooden chairs, all of them were highly elegant and appeared in a very simple way. All of the connetions were comprehensible and not hidden or concealed. I thought that this were a nice touch to show how a chair is made, and how it is connected.
While designing this chair I always had this things in mind and ended up with a very elegant and simple chair. I also wanted to add some extra features and made it as lightweight as possible and with the minimum amount of material as needed. The chair is also stackable and made out of only one material. Some factors of sustainability that sometimes are forgotten.
Key objectives for sustainability
The entire chair is made out of beech wood, the main structure, the seat and the backrest are made out of local beech wood. Also all connections are held together by beech wood dowels. Beech wood is super strong, robust and hard and perfect for building chairs. Also it is easy to recycle. The surface is only soaped or naturaly stained.
Another important aspect was to make it as light as possible without loosing any stability. The first step was to remove one leg and to make the structure as thin as possible. In the end this chair weights only 2.1 kg, by this it is also super material efficient and contains only a few parts.
In modern times, where everything has to be shipped it is also very important to think about the measures of a product. This Chair is stackable. By this the production is easier and the shipping ans storage room is minimized.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
This chair feels well known by first sight, but on the second sight it reveals it pure elegance. All connections are revealed and it easy to understand this furniture piece. The surface feels soft and warm and if you lift this chair it surprises by its lightweight. This lightness is supported by seat, that seams to hover over the structure. A very timeless picture that will last for decades.

The complete Chair is made out of one, affordable, material. The production steps are limited. This factors make sure that it is possible to produce this chair for an affordable price. It is also a comparatively slim chair that easily fit in small spaces.
Its ergonomics are well chosen and comfortable. The chair ist really robust and ready to face every challenging aspect of daily use.

Those three dimensions lead to this sustainable and contemporary chair. It is sustainable by its material and material efficient use and the resulting lightweight, the fact that it ist stackable and needs little room. It is also made in little time for a small price. A chair for everyone.
