CINEMAKE is a service that creates a multicultural community. Its activities deepen mutual understanding through cultural story sharing: co-cooking of cultural food is collaborative and interactive; watching a foreign film in the original language is educative; cultural markets support economically the neighbourhood; the online platform ATLAS, archives cultural details to track and build cultural heritage. With CINEMAKE, the community becomes stronger thanks to its cultural diversity.

Summary
Diversity became common sense today. It is not rare anymore that people who have different cultural backgrounds live in the same district in a city. CINEMAKE enables to build a multicultural community. This offers rich experiences attracting five human senses with cooking, film night, and online archives of the events and the community. The purpose of CINEMAKE is to create an environment for mutual understanding and to share a unique story among the neighbours. The films in original languages which are the mother languages for those neighbours are broadcasted in an open space so that people can join and watch them easily. Food is another important factor for CINEMAKE. In a scene of each film, there is a unique food that is related to each culture. Offering cooking experience of those foods for spectators gives a real experience of feeling a foreign culture. This is because watching films with food which is seen in the film is a new experience. Not only having an opportunity to see foreign films and foods, CINEMAKE offers changes to listen to the stories which people from different cultural backgrounds have. The life stories told by their words will give a more realistic image of each culture. Last not but least, some small shops related to the culture of each film will be at the venue of the CINEMAKE. The cultural knowledge exchanged during the CINEMAKE is archived online. This platform called ATLAS shows stories related to culture, events details, recipes of cultural food. Therefore, everyone including those who have not participated in CINEMAKE can have a virtual cultural experience interactively. This is CINEMAKE service, that fosters a mutual understanding of the cultural background of neighbours with respect.
Key objectives for sustainability
Society does not exist without a sense of community. Today, more and more people co-live in a city with others who come from different cultural backgrounds. This means that to sustain the community in a city, mutual understanding of different cultures is essential in order to find a collaborative way of living. However, it is not so easy to find an opportunity to share each cultural background and people's life stories. One possible reason for this difficulty is the language barrier. Even though communication is a key element of society, people from different cultural backgrounds find difficulties for mutual understanding. CINEMAKE helps to reduce these difficulties. Visual communication such as broadcasting international films gives a more concrete idea of what the other culture is and the people involved in CINEMAKE will be as if supporters of exchanging cultural stories. Therefore, CINEMAKE fosters interactive communication via the event as a common language. This enables people to reduce the mental barrier to build a relationship with neighbours. This strong relationship with neighbours will contribute to the sustainability of a community that lasts in the next generations. In addition to the social impact which CINEMAKE could make, CINEMAKE has also contributed to environmental protection. With help from the local groceries stores and new inhabitants' communities, CINEMAKE also provides an opportunity for people to taste fusion with the exotic flavor and regional ingredients. The combination is a new way to let people experience the possibilities of local ingredients without being obsessed with imported foods.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
The core research idea behind CINEMAKE is the activity of film night in an accurately selected open space in a city. As films are considered artwork, the film night itself would be recognized as an experience in that people can feel the sense of beauty through the expression of the movie scenes. The film programs will be selected by different criteria such as the original languages of films and the messages which the story of movies would like to tell. Considering the fact that different cultural backgrounds will give different perspectives of beauty in people's lives in that culture. Using film as a strong visual element to show various types of aesthetics in the world will enrich the spectator's understanding of other cultures as they go to an art museum. Moreover, CINEMAKE offers an opportunity in which people can enjoy the foods which they can see in the film. This means that a more realistic feeling will be given to them as if they had a trip to another part of the world. This additional experience to film night will work effectively in order to give richer opportunities for discovering another culture and therefore, it is possible to say that CINEMAKE has the potential to elevate the multicultural pattern of the neighbourhood.
Key objectives for inclusion
With the vision of inclusive social integration, CINEMAKE starts from the neighbourhood and engages different groups in ways of approaches. CINEMAKE welcomes people of every ethical level to share their aspects and knowledge from cultures as a community-based cultural sharing centre. We measure three types of participants and two other stakeholders to collaborate. First is the Gatekeepers, who have lived in the community for a long time but own various cultural backgrounds. They would co-design with the CINEMAKE team to hold the event. Apart from the sharers, we also engage the experiencers in two layers. The Explorers are the people interested in the series event of CINEMAKE and like to enjoy the whole journey with five senses experiences. In addition, CINEMAKE welcomes any random person to attend together with the cultural festivals as Sightseer. Each event will also invite the groceries stores and restaurants as cooperation partners. On the one hand, this can help people explore the local stores and enlarge their customers. On the other hand, their supplies will enrich the diversity of the events. CINEMAKE engages people from different sectors in layers, starting from the neighbourhood to build a strong community in different ways: co-design with the gatekeeper, hold events to arouse the citizen's engagement and create accessibility and affordability for all people stopping by. We believe that starting from the area we are familiar it can evoke the Butterfly Effect toward the whole community.

Innovative character
CINEMAKE was named after the principal two related experiences which it offers. The first is film night and the second is making food which people can see in the film. The film night is the core of CINEMAKE because the film is a strong visual and audio language that tells a story in different parts of the world. The film also gives spectators an opportunity to see beautiful artwork. The making and eating food which is seen in the film will provide an opportunity to imagine different cultures more concretely. The genres of films are different so that various tastes of sense of beauty will be presented. In addition, these films are carefully selected by habitants who would like to share their own cultural background. This means that the film will work effectively as a tool that enables people to understand cultural stories more clearly and thus the mutual understanding of neighbours will become deeper. CINEMAKE is an interactive opportunity for neighbours. Therefore, the activities are provided by the participation of neighbours. As more neighbours take part in CINEMAKE, the exotic experience by CINEMAKE will be richer. To understand other cultures and to have an opportunity for mutual understanding of neighbours who come from different backgrounds is not instant. However, CINEMAKE will surely help to offer a chance for a society to have a multicultural community that could be more sustainable, especially in terms of diversity.
