Summary
TINI was born two years ago, after realizing the need for a new form of construction, flexible with current consumer needs, and conscious of the environment.
The modern consumer demands a flexible living solution to fit his or her changing needs. With our modular system we are able to create different spaces, easily adding capacity to existing projects when capacity is needed as families grow or needs change.
Traditional construction systems are obsolete as cement and concrete account for approximately 8% of global carbon emissions. We view these construction methods as unsustainable, our project intends to inform consumers about this issue, providing them with an attractive solution that fits their needs.
Key objectives for sustainability
We have a commitment of using 100% recycled or recyclable material in construction of our TINI modules. We refrain from using concrete or other compounds that have a detrimental effect on the global carbon footprint.
Our materials are all sourced from local suppliers, many of which are small businesses in rural areas of Spain. Our local supply chain makes our construction process fast and efficient. We pay special importance to the craftsmanship of our TINI modules. Some of our carpenters have worked on their trade for many generations and are at risk of disappearing; we are honored to have them as part of our project and support local talent.
Our modules are fully energy independent, working on solar panels, electrical batteries, reusing rainwater, and turning waste into organic matter.
As we are all virtually connected through technology, living does not need to take place in large urban areas, we promote our TINI living solution in rural areas, many of those where our product is produced and our suppliers and providers reside. Promoting living solutions at affordable prices and allowing users to connect with nature.
At TINI we believe that in order to build a sustainable future we need to review our living needs and the dimensions of our living spaces. Sustainable living must start from assessing how much we need, building necessary space and not overbuilding.
Key objectives for aesthetics and quality
For us, the user experience is key, we aim to create an atmosphere in which the user can be relaxed and feel one with the surrounding and natural environment. This is achieved through careful study of the user, followed by unparalleled design and quality. We believe that good design should be accessible to all and not be compromised by functional aspects, or a high price tag. We work hard to offer a product that is ideal for the user, at a price that has a good relationship with the quality of the construction.
The search for bright and welcoming spaces, the use of natural and quality materials and contact with nature are key objectives at TINI.
Key objectives for inclusion
In the current context, high housing prices are an impediment for young people to access their first residence. TINI proposes an accessible alternative for them with the possibility of growing their space over time as their needs for more liveable space might increase. We are working hand in hand with several local governments to use our solution in public and affordable housing.
Results in relation to category
We have been successful in reconnecting construction and living with natura. We have been able to successfully complete several projects in our first 12 months, helping users seek a living experience that is more connected with nature and rural communities that have seen a decrease in population.
How Citizens benefit
TINI was born out of various problems that civil society was, and is, facing in relation to building and owning a property. Past trends have exploited a construction and business model that has been detrimental to the environment, and the economy.
We receive 20 emails every week from people who align with our ideas and values, and provide us helpful feedback in improving our system. We have also more than 10 projects executed, and we are carefully collecting information regarding the use of the space and potential improvements.
Our project has not been created by a few architects, exclusively thinking about the end product, but rather by an interdisciplinary team of professionals (engineers, humanities, civil servants, business people, artesans, builders…) in close communication with civil society, as well as the final user.

Innovative character
Construction is traditionally stagnant, a big concrete building does not change for many decades or centuries. Our solution is flexible and can change as needs, or neighborhoods change.
Traditional housing construction is highly pollutant, inefficient, timely, and costly; at TINI we consistently work on developing a sustainable, fast, affordable, and flexible living solution. Giving the user and the community an experience that is far removed from the negatives of the traditional process.
Learning transferred to other parties
Our solution and project have profound implications for mainstream construction and housing trends across Europe. We are departing from the traditional construction method, pushing the boundaries of modular construccion to see how far we can go in terms of creating new sustainable spaces.
Our product philosophy is based on the trends that we have seen from society, we are putting into action what users and civil society have been requesting for quite some time. A simple, flexible and sustainable solution that allows us to be more efficient with our space and resources, and have a fuller enjoyment of our natural surroundings.
At TINI we have various channels of communication with users, civil society, policy makers, as well as traditional nationwide or global construction companies. While major industry competitors are reluctant to use new technologies like ours, they are clearly the future of the industry, and as we keep creating new projects more lines of communication are opened with large construction companies.
